Matera 2019

Yesterday in Milan there was a press conference to present the program "Open Future, Together!", the closing ceremony of Matera 2019 to be held on December 20 at 7 pm, in the Cava del Sole in Matera. The artistic coordinator Manuel Agnelli, Rodrigo D’Erasmo from the Afterhours along with the general director of the Matera Basilicata 2019 Foundation, Paolo Verri, took part in the meeting with the journalists.
"The Afterhours - explained Agnelli - will be the band connecting with the other artists who will go on stage and play with us. It will not be a simple exhibition but an exchange of musical experiences. Thanks go to Stefano Senardi, consultant for the artistic programming of the evening, for having involved me in this magical experience ".
Rodrigo D’Erasmo illustrated the evening's lineup: “First, we will give space to the great international guest, Damon Albarn, a particularly significant presence that has made his music a message characterized by contamination. Then Lous and the Yakuza, the share of contemporaneity both musical and generational, a young promise destined for a great journey. Lastly, there will be the others, Fatoumata Diawara, Carmen Consoli, Daniele Silvestri and Rancore, to close all together with a grand finale: the link both in thematic terms and in the history of rock music of the last 40 years. We can't wait to get on the stage for such an important event, which closes a year of great work, also because during our inspection we found a beautiful city, among whose streets you can breathe all the beauty that has been done ".
"Also for the final evening - said Paolo Verri - we did not want to import productions, but to realize them within the territory. We believe in a repopulation of the South through events modelled on the characteristics of places that host them. The images of all the events of 2019 will be edited by Giorgio Testi in immersive mode inside the Cava, which will thus resonate with music and images, thanks to its conformation as a soundbox that allows the waves to propagate. As usual, the event will be highly sustainable as buses will provide shuttle service from the city center. Before the performances an institutional moment will take place with the presence of the President of the European Parliament, David Sassoli. For this moment we will distribute the flags of Europe to all participants and the Cava will turn all blue with yellow stars, to give a strong message: we cannot imagine a future without Europe. For all those who, due to capacity constraints, will not be able to be in the Cava, the entire event can be followed on a giant screen – placed for several days in Piazza Vittorio Veneto- that will broadcast the live streaming. The morning of December 20 will open with a live broadcast at 6:19 on Radio2 with Filippo Solibello, in the afternoon there will be a live broadcast on Radio3 ".
Access to the event “Open Future, Together!” with the Matera 2019 Passport and reservation. Today at 3:00 pm, reservations will be available both online, on the MateraEvents platform, and from the Info Point. On December 18, at 3:00 pm, last-minute seats can be booked only from the Info Point.
