The nearest airport to Matera is Bari Palese, which is 55 kilometres away and serves the Italian cities Milan, Rome, Verona, Turin, Venice, Trapani, Bergamo and Bologna, as well as international destinations: London (Stansted and Gatwick), Paris, Barcelona, Brussels, Cologne, Bucharest,
Tirana, Stuttgart and Munich.
Bari Palese Airport operates flights by Alitalia, British Airways, Lufthansa, MyAir, Ryanair, Hapag Lloyd, AirOne and Club Air.
Alternative airports are Brindisi (140 km) and Naples (250 km).

A shuttle service runs between Matera and Bari Airport. Timetables are available online and booking is recommended.

Take the Bologna-Taranto Autostrada to the Bari Nord exit. Continue to the industrial zone and exit at Modugno for Altamura-Matera, following the SS 96 then the SS 99 roads.

	Matera's aim of being at the forefront of a movement stripping away the barriers to culture, especially through new technologies and learning, is visionary.
	The panel was impressed with the vibrancy and innovation of the artistic approach. There are several projects which have the potential to attract a wider and varied European audience, including the major Southern Renaissance exhibition.
	The panel appreciated the engagement with the existing mainstream cultural institutions and organisations especially how they had already started to change their practices. This approach may have wider application for European cultural institutions.
	The panel appreciated the strong focus on digital technology which by 2019 will be far more prevalent in the cultural and social sectors than it is now. The programme ranges from an online TV channel to the digitisation of heritage archives to coding clubs for young people. This is a forward looking and innovative approach for an ECOC.
	The policy towards inclusion is progressive with an emphasis on bringing those frequently excluded from culture into projects rather than creating parallel project lines. The panel appreciated the strong intention of foregrounding participation and co-design.
	The bidbook acknowledged this weakness, indeed the need for capacity building* in the cultural sector and public administration is one of the main goals.*
	The panel explored the intention to increase tourism from an annual 200,000 to 600,000, and its possible impact on the fragile eco-system of the region. The panel was re-assured that research has indicated this is a sustainable number.
	The panel was impressed on how what was initially a grass-roots initiative has developed into a formal central element of the city and regional planning.
	The concrete commitment of 70% of the funding, regardless of the outcome of the competition, is a clear demonstration of the centrality of the ECOC programme to the city and region’s development. It is one of the clearest examples, in recent years, of a candidate’s programme being part of a strategic plan rather than simply a bid for a competition.

Paolo Verri

PaoloVerri Paolo Verri was born in Turin in 1966. Graduated in 1990 on Liberal-Arts at the Catholic University of Milano finalizing studies with a degree thesis on the relationship between culture, literature and television. His graduation thesis “Book and television: a difficult story” was written with the direction of Aldo Grasso and Gianfranco Bettetini and published by RAI, the national broadcasting company.
From that point on he has been working in the publishing industry, first as copy editor, then as editor in chief taking also care of several series for some publishing companies, and finally as general manager of the Italian Internazional Bookfair and Italian International Music Fair Exhibition both based in Turin (role that he held from 1993 to 1997). In the 1998 he became Media Manager for the Italian Publishers Association, promoting Italian book production at international level. In 1998 he started working for trade and promotion of the city of Turin and in the year 2000 was appointed as Chief Executive of Torino Internazionale, the association that develops, coordinates and manages the City Strategic Plans.
In 2003 he takes charge of Atrium Torino, the organization appointed to communicate the city transformations and the Olympic event held at Solferino square in Turin. During the Olympics Torino 2006 he directed the Sponsor Village.
In mid 2006 he left both roles to take on the managing of the Italia 150 project, which in may 2007 became steering committee. The main goal of the Italia 150 committee was to perform a huge, more than 9 months, event that in the year 2011 (year of the 150 anniversary of the Italian Unity) recounted the past, the present and the future of Italy. Italia 150 had a budget of 42 million euros and reached the goal to host more than 4 million people in less than 250 days.
In July 2011 he became the director of Matera 2019 Committee, an organization born to promote the city of Matera as a candidate for the European Culture Capital: successful bid, since Matera became last October 17 European Capital of Culture representing Italy in 2019.
In the meantime, from March 2013 to April 2015, he has managed contents and events for the Italian Pavillion of the Expo2015, that is taking place in Milan (May 1st and October 31st 2015) and whose title is “Feed the Planet, Energy for Life”.
Since May 2015 he has been appointed Director of the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation, body responsible for the implementation of Matera 2019’s programme. He is also consultant for various cities in order to develop their strategic plans.
Big sport supporter, he is also president of the Osvaldo Soriano Football Club, the Italian writers national football team. He is also a travelling lover, passion that shares with his wife and their 3 children.

Claudia Di Perna

ClaudiaDiPerna Born in 1980 to a mother from Matera and father from Puglia, Claudia demonstrated from the outset a particular predilection for everything “foreign”: from languages to customs, traditions and literature. After obtaining her diploma with top marks from the Linguistic Lyceum “Liceo Linguistico T. Stigliani” in Matera, she then graduated in 2004 in Negotiation Interpreting and Translation in English and Spanish at the Scuola Superiore di Lingue Moderne per Interpreti e Traduttori di Forlì (College of Modern Languages for Interpreters and Translators in Forlì) at the University of Bologna. In her academic career exams in Russian, Japanese and French languages, plus European Rights and the Principles of Economics and Marketing were included. After graduation, she decided to return to the Basilicata region, in the belief that this was the right place and the right time for cultivating her passions and projects.
Thanks to the Leonardo project, she lived and worked for four months in Derry, Northern Ireland. Then in 2005, Claudia undertook an inspiring training course in Organisation and Management of Art Exhibitions, held by the cultural association of Circolo Culturale la Scaletta di Matera and successively, with a team of young people from Basilicata with whom she had already proven her skills in the conception, setup and management of events, in 2006 became co-founder of the Artezeta cooperative, which manages the Cripta del Peccato Original (Crypt of Original Sin) and MUSMA (Museum of Contemporary Sculpture) in Matera. Having already spent five years as a touristic interpreter, in 2010 she became an official tourist guide of the Basilicata region, focusing primarily on the conception, organising and conducting of guided tours that promote the sites and cultural heritage of the entire region.
In March 2012, she participated enthusiastically in the selection for the Secretariat of the Matera 2019 Committee, the promoting entity of the candidacy of Matera as European Capital of Culture 2019 and, having been selected, began to dedicate herself to an exciting job that would accompany the city of Matera and the entire region to achieving the ambitious title in 2014, overtaking 20 other Italian candidate cities.
In April 2015, Claudia was hired by the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation, an entity that actuates the cultural programme expressed in the Matera 2019 dossier, taking on the role of Head of the Secretariat and Assistant to the Director.

Raffaella Pontrandolfi

RaffaellaPontrandolfi2 Since April 2015, she has been the Digital Communications Manager for the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation.
She manages the Foundation's digital communication tools (website, social networks, newsletters) and carries out the role of interface between creative businesses (graphic designers, photographers, video makers) and the Foundation.
Raffaella Pontrandolfi was born in Matera in 1976. After obtaining her artistic college diploma, she attended the Faculty of Physics at the University of Pisa. A course of study that reinforced her education, she was already predisposed to the attention to detail and the importance of the infinitely small. Raffaella has always been passionate about new technologies. She frequented specialisation courses in multimedia graphic design and web design, collaborating successively as a freelancer with graphic design studios and private clients in her own city and beyond.
Over the years, she has combined creativity and consolidated technique as a web and graphic designer, having extensive knowledge of new digital communication tools.
She attended two specialisation courses in “Web and Social Media Marketing”. Together with other young people from Basilicata, Raffaella formed the Matera 2019 web team in 2012. A group of “digital volunteers”, through social networks they have given voice to the values and themes of the candidacy of Matera as European Capital of Culture 2019.
In February 2013, Raffaella undertook a 6-month internship with the Matera 2019 Committee and after, until in March 2015, was the Head of Digital Communications for the said Committee.
She loves her work and considers it a great responsibility, as well as an opportunity, to commit to an ambitious project for the development of the territory. Raffaella loves to relax by listening to rock music, going to the cinema and taking romantic vacations with her husband.

Rossella Tarantino

RossellaTarantino Born in Matera, economist, she is specialized in the design, implementation and evaluation of public policies, with a focus on education, culture and social innovation.
She is the Development and Relations Manager of the Foundation Matera-Basilicata 2019.
From 2002 to 2014 she worked in in the Public Investment Evaluation Unit of Basilicata Region. Under this post, she drafted Strategic Plans (i.e. Regional Economic and Financial Programmes), conducted evaluation studies on projects and policies, designed and developed pilot projects on local development empowered by creativity (i.e. Visioni Urbane, considered as one of the best practices in cultural policies also because of its emphasis on technology and community approach). In addition, she also took part in twinning experiences with Eastern Countries (Poland, Romania, Bulgaria) and ran a project on archeology and communities involvement in Jordan.
Because of her competences, in 2010 she was entrusted by Regione Basilicata to Matera 2019 Committee for the preparation of the bid for the title of ECOC. As Project manager, she defined and ran the pilot projects and residencies aimed to strengthen the EU dimension and to encompass it in the city and citizens dimension, developed all the plans aimed to ensure the budget allocation of the bid book (and of the bidding process as well), ensured a close coordination between the bid strategy and the regional and urban policies, took part in the drafting of the 2 bid books as to the aspects concerning finance, legacy and governance as well as to the 2 interviews with the Selection Panel. In addition, she took care of the preparatory work for the setting up of Matera 2019 Committee and subsequently of Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation.
From 1994 to 2001, she worked in Brussels and matured a long experience in running and assessing cooperation programmes with third countries (India, Mediterranean countries) in the cultural and education field. She took part in several monitoring missions on site both in Indian and EU Universities. In addition, she designed and ran a EU project on Museums storytelling and merchandising.
For the European Commission she took part in a number of selection panels of EC projects in the media and cultural sector. She is also the author of 3 publications (Feasibility studies on tourism and culture; on Visioni Urbane; on Open Matera-Open future, published on Symbola Annual Report).
European committed, she had the privilege of being one of the first Erasmus students (1988 University of Louvain la Neuve).

Rita Orlando

RitaOrlando Rita Orlando is an architect, always on the search for something new, as a manifestation of her happy restlessness.
Since July 2015, she has been part of the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation team, focusing on networking, management and follow-up of projects. During the application phase, on behalf of the Matera 2019 Committee, she oversaw innovative projects at a European level (Living on the Edge, unMonastery, Innovation Lab), the artistic residencies programme (devoted to co-productions for the Materadio festival) and the cultural entertainment initiatives of the territory dedicated to schools; in the post-designation phase, Rita has contributed to the administrative closure of the Committee and to the start-up of the Foundation. After graduating in Architecture from the Polytechnic Institute of Bari, she worked for many years at an international architectural firm in Matera, predominantly focusing on projects around the world (in the United States, Montenegro and China) and coordinating multidisciplinary working groups, having the opportunity to learn about different cultures, being her great passion.Successively, Rita worked freelance, even participating in innovative and experimental projects in the cultural field and cultivating her passion for design (also thanks to the “MIM” workshop by PoliMi - the Polytechnic Institute of Milan).
Rita strongly believes in the values of teamwork and the sharing of knowledge and experiences. She loves her job and singing her heart out, and always has her suitcase ready! She likes to think that: “The future is an open book”.

Massimiliano Burgi

MassimilianoBurgi Massimiliano E. Burgi was born in Matera, Italy on 31st July 1972. After graduating from artistic college, he earned his degree in architecture from the University of Florence, where he also attended the La Pira International Centre, a training ground for life with the belief that a united world is possible. Returning to Matera, he worked as an architect with IPOGEA, an Education Centre on Knowledge and Traditional Techniques, flanking architect Pietro Laureano in the drafting and creation of Italian projects, from which he discovered a scientific reading of the ancient cave dwellings of Sassi di Matera, that was interwoven with a love for the Ancient Neighbourhoods imparted by his father on long Sunday strolls.
Impassioned by working freelance, Massimiliano commenced operating as an architect in the field of restoration and salvaging of common and historical-monumental architecture, utilising traditional and innovative construction systems. Massimiliano places particular emphasis on water harvesting systems. He participates in conferences on traditional systems and processes of desertification. He has published texts and articles on the salvaging of the landscape, architecture of the past and desertification.
In 2009, he was appointed a member of the Technical-Scientific Committee of the Natural History Archaeological Park of the Rupestrian Churches of Matera, in the role of landscape architect. In Saudi Arabia's Riyadh for a presentation in June 2010 on the architectural system of Sassi di Matera, he discovered the fascinating Islamic world. In September 2011, Massimiliano participated in Tokyo, the first city he loved as a child, attending a work session on sustainable architecture promoted by the International Union of Architects. From 2012 to 2015, he has carried out the role of strict tutor for the graduation course in Architecture at the University of Basilicata.
In 2008, Massimiliano was among the group to propose the idea of nominating Matera for the title of European Capital of Culture 2019, seeing in this candidacy the chance for growth for Matera, for the Basilicata region and for the entire south. He thus commenced, firstly, by joining the Matera 2019 Association and then by working with the Matera 2019 Committee, dedicating himself, together with his colleagues and with all their hearts, so that the citizens of Matera and Basilicata may feel that they too are protagonists and participants in the candidacy pathway. He currently works with the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation, focused on the citizen and city dimension.
Besides to his family, in his free time Massimiliano is devoted to cooking, reading and freestyle swimming.

Ariane Bieou

Qualified architect, she worked for 15 years in Italy, first as associated architect and then in the management of cultural projects in the field of performing arts, particularly in designing, managing and coordinating art events in public spaces or in connection with heritage. She's also represented the italian partnership from 2006 of IN SITU, the European network for artistic creation in public space. Since 2011, she coordinates IN SITU, leaded by Lieux publics, centre national de création (Marseille – France), and run the ongoing projects META 2011-2016, IN SITU Platform 2014-2017 and IN SITU ACT 2016-2020 that gathers 25 partners from 17 countries throughout Europe. From 2003 and during the course of five projects financed by the European Commission, the activity of IN SITU covered project launches, artistic production, European residences, transnational programming as well as the development and evaluation of pilot actions promoting mobility.

Born in 1966, graduated from Law school, passionate about digital technologies and new forms of online communication, blogger since 2003. Since 2005, she has worked on the Basilicata regional culture policies (Short List Cultura and Visioni Urbane projects). From 2011 to 2015 she was the coordinator of the webteam Matera 2019, which had the function of spreading and pushing the promoter committee initiatives on social media. She also coordinated the online community design and implementation, which allowed citizens to propose projects to support the Matera 2019 candidacy, and to discuss issues that were the core of the dossier that allowed Matera to be selected as the European Capital of Culture for 2019. She is interested in all the topics related to the web usage as a tool of freedom and participation: open street map, open data, data re-usage, coding for children, online discussions on common topics, and mobilization of collective intelligences. From 2004 and 2015 she was a member of the Strategic Team for POR Basilicata 2000-2006 and PO FES Basilicata 2007-2013 at Basilicata Region, with support functions for upper management and the management activities.

Rebecca Raponi

RebeccaRaponi2 Having obtained her Diploma in Interior Architecture at the European Institute of Design in 1997, she initially collaborated until 2001 with the Valentino Haute Couture fashion house in the design and realisation of shop fittings within the world of visual merchandising in the company-owned boutiques around the world.
This experience lead her to frequent a cosmopolitan environment that was alive and multifaceted, evolving into a permanent partnership with the RomaEuropa Festival, an international event of contemporary theatre, music and dance that takes place in the principal theatres of the city. Here, for almost ten years, she was responsible for all organisational sectors, from the interpretation of stage sets, to production in close contact with the artists, through to the promotion of the scheduled events. Meeting the love of her life in 1997, Rebecca came to know Matera. After such extensive professional experience and the birth of her first two children, in 2010 she decided to move here. This was the year in which the city became a candidate for European Capital of Culture for the year 2019. Initially chosen to work on the Radio3 festival, Materadio, her collaboration became permanent, overseeing large and small events of the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation.

Giuseppe Romaniello

giuseppe romaniello A business school graduate, Mr Romaniello is the Special Commissioner for the APOF-IL, the Province of Potenza’s Agency for Orientation, Education and Labour after having been, since 2010, its General Manager. His responsibilities included planning, management and control of the agencies activities, coordinating the activities of 130 work units, including employees and collaborators. He managed an annual budget of an average of 10 million euro from EU, national and regional funds.
An expert in programming, management, monitoring, procedures and control of the Structural Funds, his expertise is in economic and financial planning and the management of public administrations. While he was its head, the Province’s in-house Agency consolidated its role of territorial control over educational policy via the creation of annual Programme Plans (Piani Programmi) aimed at some 8,000 users annually.
From 2004 to 2009 he was a member of the Technical Assistance Group for the activation procedures of the POR Basilicata 2000-2006 and the PO FES Basilicata 2007-2013 at the Department of Education, Labour, Culture and Sports, with support functions for upper management and the management authority in the field of action planning, the monitoring of financial, fiscal and procedural data of the Programme, as well as managing the finances and operation controls to ensure proper management and surveillance of the PO.

Antonella Buono

AntonellaBuono Antonella Buono is a dreamer and a creative mind - these not generally the characteristics of someone having been involved in administration and accounting for so many years. Her educative pathway saw her first graduate from Matera's “Antonio Loperfido” Business Technical Institute, before her studies led her to Bari, where she attended the University of Economics and Business and completed a specialisation course in “Business Administration and Management”, with its relative six-month internship at the Banca Popolare in Mezzoggiorno. Training courses in Macroeconomics and Asset Management were followed by courses in Bancassurance plus Elements of Communication and Sales. Antonella now works for Financial and Accounting Consultancy firms, where her knowledge and training is enhanced and consolidated.
She can attest to having always wanted to concern herself with numbers, papers, accounting and company balance sheets. It is a job she loves to do, in a responsible and professional manner. Yet she loves even more to travel and to play outdoor sports so as to enjoy the nature that surrounds her. In 2014, Antonella joined the team of Matera 2019 Committee, today known as the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation. A different organisation from her previous places of employment, it is an environment she likes to define as being “creative”, where she may develop personal relationships that form a source of growth and contrast.

On 17 October 2014, at the end of the intense candidacy period and following the evaluation made by the international panel of judges, Dario Franceschini, Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities and of Tourism, proclaimed Matera the European Capital of Culture for 2019.

The Matera Basilicata 2019 Foundation, the same organisation which delivered the Matera European Capital of Culture 2019 program, continues to operate in the field of creativity and culture with the aim to promote and support the development of creative, artistic and cultural activities in the city of Matera and at a regional level in tune with the strategies of local authorities and in collaboration with the world of university, research and business; consolidate and strengthen the national and international position of Basilicata and Matera as a platform of cultural innovation that creates relationships, exchanges, projects in Europe and the World; foster social inclusion through art and culture.

Valletta (Malta) and Leeuwarden (Netherlands) are the European Capitals of Culture 2018 and we want to wish them a good job!

The European Capital of Culture in Valletta will be held an opening ceremony from the 14th to the 21st of January 2018 to officially begin the year.
The central theme "Imagine 18" is an exciting opportunity to experience cultural identity afresh in new contexts that push the boundaries and allow for ideas, dialogue, creativity and innovation to flow freely. Valletta 2018 will bring shifts in mentality, challenge to experiment, raise expectations both as artists and as audiences, and embrace permanent change to enrich Maltese cultural lives. This will be done by focusing on encouraging the participation of individuals and organizations from different parts of society.
The programme includes festivals and performances in science, arts, kids and youths, dance, theatre, food and many others topics. The concepts behind the events are driven by three main themes: “Island Stories”, “Future Baroque” and “Voyages”.

The opening ceremony in the city of Leeuwarden, on the other hand, will be held the following week on the 26th and 27th of January.

The central theme "The iepen mienskip - open community" has the aim to connect different kinds of communities across Europe, both online and ‘in real life’. With more than 800 projects, the ECoC will show an idiosyncratic and committed community sensitive to and curious about each other’s ideas, opportunities and challenges.
The programme is articulated into three themes. Theme one is about how nature and culture relate to each other in the broadest sense. Theme two focuses on the relationship between city and countryside. The third theme is about how people live together in these places and how different co-existing cultures communicate and interact.

Running alongside the main programme, Leeuwarden 2018 has two side programmes. Lab LWD can be compared to a toolbox to test out different kinds of open platforms for connecting people. The second one, Royal Friesian, is a programme considering the past, present and future of cultural import-export relations.

Giovanni Padula is an urban economist, director and founder of CityO Srl, a research and consulting firm specialized in the evaluation of investment projects on a territorial scale.
He is an adjunct professor at the Carlo Cattaneo University of Castellanza (LIUC) with a course on the economics of cities and the economic-financial analysis of investment projects.
He has developed several projects in the field of territorial analysis and economic feasibility studies. He conducts economic impact studies, creative and cultural industries analysis, and city strategic plans. Feasibility studies focus on investment projects and cultural infrastructures.

As a consultant to the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation, he carried out analyses on tourism, infrastructure, the creative and cultural system, and economic impacts - producing, among others, two reports: "The Economic Impact of Matera European Capital of Culture 2019" and "Tourism in Matera and Basilicata.”
He was formerly director and founding partner of Creativity Group Europe Srl together with Richard Florida and Irene Tinagli. Creativity Group Europ was a research laboratory on the creative economy and produced, among others, the reports "Italy in the Creative Age" and "Sweden in the Creative Age."
Between 2000 and 2001 he was an executive manager at Seat Pagine Gialle Spa and a partner and managing director of Polix Spa, an internet start-up one of the first European companies to develop online survey technologies.
From 1991 and 2000 he worked in New York City, first as an economic correspondent in the editorial staff of Sole 24 Ore, then as U.S. correspondent for the weekly magazine Il Mondo.
From 1996 to 1999 he was a member of the editorial board of the Washington D.C.-based World Bank magazine Urban Age. In the '80s he was a researcher at CESPRI, Center on Internationalization Processes of Bocconi University, and junior editor of the publishing houses Il Saggiatore and Edizioni di Comunità.

He holds a degree in Economic and Social Disciplines (DES) from Luigi Bocconi University in Milan.

Rita Orlando is an architect, always on the search for something new, as a manifestation of her happy restlessness.Since July 2015, she has been part of the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation team, focusing on networking, management and follow-up of projects. During the application phase, on behalf of the Matera 2019 Committee, she oversaw innovative projects at a European level (Living on the Edge, unMonastery, Innovation Lab), the artistic residencies programme (devoted to co-productions for the Materadio festival) and the cultural entertainment initiatives of the territory dedicated to schools; in the post-designation phase, Rita has contributed to the administrative closure of the Committee and to the start-up of the Foundation.

He was born in Matera on 31st July 1972. After graduating from artistic college, he earned his degree in architecture from the University of Florence, where he also attended the La Pira International Centre, a training ground for life with the belief that a united world is possible. Returning to Matera, he worked as an architect with IPOGEA, an Education Centre on Knowledge and Traditional Techniques, flanking architect Pietro Laureano in the drafting and creation of Italian projects, from which he discovered a scientific reading of the ancient cave dwellings of Sassi di Matera, that was interwoven with a love for the Ancient Neighbourhoods imparted by his father on long Sunday strolls.

Born in 1980 to a mother from Matera and father from Puglia, Claudia demonstrated from the outset a particular predilection for everything “foreign”: from languages to customs, traditions and literature. After obtaining her diploma with top marks from the Linguistic Lyceum “Liceo Linguistico T. Stigliani” in Matera, she then graduated in 2004 in Negotiation Interpreting and Translation in English and Spanish at the Scuola Superiore di Lingue Moderne per Interpreti e Traduttori di Forlì (College of Modern Languages for Interpreters and Translators in Forlì) at the University of Bologna. In her academic career exams in Russian, Japanese and French languages, plus European Rights and the Principles of Economics and Marketing were included. After graduation, she decided to return to the Basilicata region, in the belief that this was the right place and the right time for cultivating her passions and projects.

Elvira Stephanie De Giacomo was born in 1983 in Toronto to Lucanian parents who had moved there for work . However, they returned to Matera in1990 as they missed their homeland and their family. Elvira’s natural interest in multiculturalism led her to complete a Masters Degree in Intercultural Mediation Sciences (English, French and German) at the University of Bari. Her passion for the area around Matera was crucial to her completing a PHD in Economic Geography, specialising in Tourism Geography. During her studies she started collaborating with the Agency for Territorial Promotion of Basilicata(APT).Thanks to her management and organizational skills she coordinated the Data Processing Centre where she became skilled in collecting and processing statistical data, and in tourism legislation and tourist accommodation services.
She enthusiastically accepted the invitation to be involved in the drafting of the first Candidacy Bid Book for Matera 2019. Over these months of intense work, characterized by close collaboration and intense cultural activity, she took the minutes of the Scientific Committee. She also coordinated the drafting of the Bid Book, which was one of those selected from among 20 Italian candidate cities. At the end of this period of hard work she left the Committee to have a baby. She continued to be involved in various activities for the Committee and subsequently for the Foundation, where she began working regularly in December 2017.
At present she works in the Executive Office, supporting the activities of the Executive and Administrative Offices. She helps to organise institutional meetings and coordinates the activities of all managers across the Foundation.

Since April 2015, she has been the Digital Communications Manager for the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation.
She manages the Foundation's digital communication tools (website, social networks, newsletters) and carries out the role of interface between creative businesses (graphic designers, photographers, video makers) and the Foundation.
Raffaella Pontrandolfi was born in Matera in 1976. After obtaining her artistic college diploma, she attended the Faculty of Physics at the University of Pisa. A course of study that reinforced her education, she was already predisposed to the attention to detail and the importance of the infinitely small.

Caterina Venece was born in Montemurro, a small Lucanian village near Potenza, in 1987. She is a journalist. In 2010 she obtained her BA in Italian Literature from the University of Salerno, specialising in journalism. Later she moved to the University of Bari. In 2013 she obtained an MA in Information and publishing systems with a thesis on Italian culture analysed through the pages of “La Domenica” in “Il Sole 24 Ore”.

Antonella Buono is a dreamer and a creative mind - these not generally the characteristics of someone having been involved in administration and accounting for so many years. Her educative pathway saw her first graduate from Matera's “Antonio Loperfido” Business Technical Institute, before her studies led her to Bari, where she attended the University of Economics and Business and completed a specialisation course in “Business Administration and Management”, with its relative six-month internship at the Banca Popolare in Mezzoggiorno.

Born in Matera in 1972,Valeria Nuzzolese was a student at the Liceo Scientifico of Matera. She graduated with a first-class honours degree in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Bari. Later, she enrolled in the national register of accountants and auditors. After working for accountancy offices and in the administration department of some local companies, she started to gain experience in the field of financed training. In particular, she dealt with planning, monitoring and accounting of complex projects while working for accredited companies at public institutions for some years.

Rosa Carbone is Calabrian from Lungro with its Arberesh linguistic minority in the province of Cosenza. Proud of the history and cultural heritage of her local area, she planned her studies to capitalise on its great tourism and, one day, to create employment for herself and many other young people who share her passion.
She completed a 3-year degree in Tourism, then specialised in Enhancement of Cultural and Tourist Heritage at the University of Calabria. She then went on to do a Masters and follow highly specialised courses in Local and Regional Marketing and Web Marketing for Tourism.

She gained experience in hotel management working in Valtur resorts in Italy and abroad, and in hotels first as a receptionist then as a Marketing & Customer Relationships Manager.
She has collaborated with the national association Borghi Autentici d’Italia as a tourism consultant for some municipalities in Campania and Calabria that belong to the network.
Her skills and love for her homeland helped her become Chair of the tourism promotion association Pro loco Arbëria of Lungro four years ago, a role which includes being a member of the UNPLI (National Union of Italian Pro Loco) Council of Calabria with responsibility for linguistic minorities and regional tourism promotion.
A firm believer that culture is the key to economic and employment development at local level, she considers Matera European Capital of Culture as a great way to help relaunch the south and which should be seen as an example to follow.

Since December 2018 she has managed ticketing for the Matera 2019 Foundation. Since March 2020 she is reporting assistant for the Matera 2019 Foundation

Marco Piegari was born in the province of Salerno in 1977. He completed his high school diploma in scientific studies and then gained a Degree in Law from the University of Siena. After that, he passed the bar exam. While he was at University, he completed an internship at the I.C.E. (ItalianTrade Agency) in New York. He gained a Masters Degree in “Globalizzazione dei mercati e tutela del consumatore (Globalization of markets and protection of consumers) from the University of Rome 3 in 2008 and a Masters Degree in “Gestione delle Risorse Energetiche” (Management of Energy Sources) from the Institute Safe in Rome in 2012.

He enriched his professional background with work experiences in several national companies such as Sielte SpA and Poste Italiane SpA.

In 2015 he was appointed as deputy chairman of the management board of Consorzio Stabile OSCAR scarl. He has also been a member of the management board of the Fondazione per il sostegno e lo sviluppo degli studi giuridici (Foundation for the support and development of law studies) in Siena.

By working in such a stimulating professional context he has honed his legal skills and become a successful lawyer specializing in company and administrative law, pleading before administrative jurisdiction and carrying out extra-judicial activities.

Deeply passionate about politics, he was a member of the Council of his home town for about eight years, being in charge of legal proceedings, youth politics and production activities.

Versatile, inquisitive and highly dynamic, he loves travelling, reading as well as practising sports especially skiing, trekking and horse-riding.

Paolo Verri was born in Turin in 1966. Graduated in 1990 on Liberal-Arts at the Catholic University of Milano finalizing studies with a degree thesis on the relationship between culture, literature and television. His graduation thesis “Book and television: a difficult story” was written with the direction of Aldo Grasso and Gianfranco Bettetini and published by RAI, the national broadcasting company. From that point on he has been working in the publishing industry, first as copy editor, then as editor in chief taking also care of several series for some publishing companies, and finally as general manager of the Italian Internazional Bookfair and Italian International Music Fair Exhibition both based in Turin (role that he held from 1993 to 1997). In the 1998 he became Media Manager for the Italian Publishers Association, promoting Italian book production at international level.

Claudio obtained a diploma in accounting in 2006 but being an individualist, he decided to follow his dreams, which led him change direction and study agrarian technology.

From a young age he was attracted by anything unusual and often travelled to places that were very diverse. When he returned home, he brought with him new and innovative ideas.

His strength is his ability to work in a team, with the clever and talented people who have inspired him.

In November 2015, when the Stone Revenge Association was set up (of which he was Vice-President), he took on the project 'Save the Ancient Quarters' (a planning incubator) funded by the Basilicata Region under the Nuovi Fermenti tender. The project, which lasted 12 months, was very successful and focused attention on Via delle Beccherie, one of the ancient streets of Matera – a street which had been abandoned for decades and now boasts one of the largest number of businesses in the city.

In 2012 his great affection for the city delivered a big challenge: opening an Info Point for the Municipality of Matera (IAT), which was managed for almost two years with Federconsumatori’s SOS Turista service.

This success inspired him to set up the Pro Loco in Matera, and to his great delight the association (of which he is now President) was listed in the regional register in August 2017.

During the last few years he has contributed to running many events, including, in 2014, the first 'Silent Disco' held in a southern Italian square, which was attended by over 2,000 people, with 150 Erasmus students from the University of Bari from across the world.

With a life-long interest in marketing, he grasped the opportunity to put to good use the skills he had learnt in managing his own activities.

In early 2018 he was selected for the Build Up programme run by the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation as a Maker-Junior and since December 2018 he has been working as an Assistant in the Directorate’s Secretariat.

Meanwhile, he continues to work on his agricultural business (which has already made news in California) and on the planning and development of agricultural businesses oriented towards the market for non-standard crops.

For 2020 he is planning another great event at international level called 'Cucù Parade'.

Born in1989 Laura Pirro is passionate about her native Gargano region and southern Italy and at the same time always has a bag packed and ready to leave, study and explore new places, only to return full of new perspectives. A first class honours graduate in architecture at the “D’Annunzio” University in Pescara, she has alternated periods of study and work in Italy and abroad, forever cultivating her passion for art and for her beloved Italy. Co-founder since 2009 of the environmental artistic park “Il Sentiero dell'Anima - un Parco di Tempi di Versi”, headquarters of the cultural organisation of the same name, where she actively takes part in on-going projects and has explored the themes of management, planning and development of cultural heritage following work experience at the Soprintendenza Speciale per il Patrimonio Storico Artistico ed Etnoantropologico (Historical, Artistic and Ethnographic Heritage Special Superintedency) and for thePolo Museale della Reggia di Caserta (Reggia di Caserta Museum Centre). Her skills and competences in this field were further honed and perfected during her second-level master’s in "Cultural Heritage Management", which she was awarded by the Link Campus University of Rome.

At the same time, the need to crystallise and physically manoeuvre her profession led her, in 2012,to set up the DDuMstudio group of creatives, which explores the large scale of the changing urban environment and the small scale of design and everyday objects.Studying architecture and design, and winner of numerous national and international awards, she has been active in local revitalisation and regeneration and since 2016 has been head of the creative section of Vazapp, a rural hub in the province of Foggia which deals with social innovation in the agricultural sector.

At the beginning of 2018 she was selected for the Build Up programme set up by the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation as a junior maker. Since September 2018 she has working in the general director's area within the same Foundation managing big events such as the Opening Ceremony.

Stefano Murciano was born in Galatina (Lecce) in 1988.

In 2013 he was awarded a first class honours bachelor’s degree in literature and theatre studies,writing his dissertation on the history of theatre and performance entitled “André Antoine: la deteatralizzazione del teatro”. In 2015 he was awarded a first class honours master’s degree in performance studies, writing his dissertation on the history of theatre entitled “Tra Filologia e Sperimentazione, il Festival della Valle d’Itria e la regia del melodramma” from the University of Bari “Aldo Moro”.

In 2015 he took part in the “Future Lab - Balab”project at the Polytechnic University of Bari and in the same year achieved a level V vocational qualification as “Head of Theatre, Cinema and Television Direction”at Celips in Foggia.

In 2017 he completed a first-level master’s in “Opera Stage Direction” at the Verona Opera Academy (Accademia d’Arte Drammatica Silvio d’Amico di Roma and Accademia di Belle Arti di Verona) and a first-level master’s in “Performance Management” at the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna.

He worked as a director’s assistant for the “Teatro di San Carlo” in Naples for “Lucia di Lammermoor” by G. Donizetti, directed by Gianni Amelio and in this version by Michele Mangini, and again for the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples at the Dubai Opera (United Arab Emirates) for the Mozart/Da Ponte trilogy“Così Fan Tutte” conducted by Mr. Andrea Albertini, “Nozze di Figaro”conducted by Mr. Maurizio Agostini, “Don Giovanni”conducted by Mr. Hansjorg Albrecht, directed by Mariano Bauduin.

From 2014 to 2017 he was the artistic director of the regional theatre network Puglia Off - winning the Rete Critica award for viral communication in 2015 - and in 2017 he was the artistic director of the “Teatro Comunale” in Galatone. In addition, he has worked as organiser and artistic director of cultural events and theatre festivals and as a consultant on cultural projects and live shows.

He directed “Piccoli Crimini Coniugali” (Partners in Crime) by Eric Emmanuel Schmitt, “Le fuggitive”by Pierre Palmade and Christophe Duthuron, and“Stucke”by M. Autorino.

In 2018 he participated in the Build Up Matera 2019 programme as a junior maker and worked as a production assistant for the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro.

Mauro Acito è nato a Matera il 7 novembre 1992. Ha ottenuto la laurea triennale in Studi Internazionali presso l’Università degli Studi di Torino nel 2014 e quella magistrale in Economia e gestione dell’arte e delle attività culturali a Ca’ Foscari, Venezia nel 2016, con una tesi dal titolo “La Capitale Europea della Cultura: la gestione del progetto Matera 2019” nella quale si analizzava il percorso di candidatura e le ricadute a breve termine della nomina.

Ha partecipato al programma di formazione “Makers&Linkers” della Fondazione Matera-Basilicata 2019, venendo selezionato come figura Junior.

Appassionato di arte contemporanea, si specializza nelle nuove forme d’arte e nello studio di tecniche di stampa (serigrafia, incisione e xilografia).

Dopo diverse esperienze lavorative in sedi espositive veneziane, si trasferisce a Bruxelles con una borsa di studio Erasmus+ post laurea per svolgere un tirocinio presso il Millenium Iconoclast Museum of Art (MIMA), un giovane museo d’arte contemporanea che sorge sul canale di Molenbeek. Dopo diversi mesi in Belgio ed aver seguito come assistente di direzione la produzione, il montaggio e lo smontaggio di 3 mostre, decide di tornare a Matera per lavorare ad alcuni progetti privati di riqualificazione urbana, utilizzando parte della rete di contatti sviluppati negli anni fuori dalla Basilicata. Nel settembre 2016 è co-curatore dell’intervento di MOMO sulle pareti della scuola di San Pardo a Matera, con gli annessi laboratori per i ragazzi.

Dal dicembre 2017, con il progetto “Volevo Solo Aprire un Museo”, lavora all’apertura del Tower Art Museum, un museo d’arte contemporanea in una torre medievale nel cuore dei Sassi di Matera.

Ugo Maria Tassinari was born in 1956 in Naples, growing up in the Posillipo area of the city.
He is married with a daughter and two grandchildren. In addition to journalism (a profession he has practised for over 30 years), he is active in historical research, in school and university teaching and trains journalists to use new digital technologies. He spent around 15 years working as a reporter for the local Neapolitan press (starting at Il Giornale di Napoli, then working as Chief Editor at Il Mezzogiorno and the Cronache di Napoli, and news editor at Senza Prezzo). The turning point came in the late 20th century, when he moved to Potenza as editor of the Nuova Basilicata. In the last 15 years his main professional activity has been in institutional communication. He headed up the press office at the Regional San Carlo Hospital, which received the Oscar in Public Administration for public health in 2013, awarded by the FERPI. He has continued to work as a journalist for various national web sites (Misteri d’Italia, Notte Criminale, Tiscali.it) and written hundreds of articles for his blogs Fascinazione and L’alter Ugo on the radical right and right-wing terrorism. He is considered one of the greatest experts in Italy on these subjects. He has appeared on many radio and TV programmes and been interviewed dozens of times by the Italian press and produced videos. As well as books on 'fascisteria' (a neologism meaning fascist-inspired movements, a word that has entered the Treccani dictionary and is the title of his best-known book) he has published on events in 1968 (with Oreste Scalzone), religious terrorism in the United States, action at Scanzano Jonico against nuclear waste (with José Mazzei), revolts in Basilicata, deadly cults, and the life of Antonio Luongo. He is passionate about working for Matera 2019 and living there.

Originally from Salento, she studied in Perugia, graduating in communication science and writing her dissertation on street TV and social involvement. After taking part in the Erasmus project in Romania and the Youth programme in Slovenia, she chose to move back to the South, to Lecce, where she took a master’s in public communication and another in international cooperation.

Since 2015 she has worked as a contributor dealing with online and offline communication, press office and the planning and organisation of cultural events. Over the years she has collaborated with a theatre in promoting shows abroad and with a local development agency (GAL), as an editor and organiser. She also works with several training organisations as a teacher and holds courses in upper secondary schools.

Her interest in the world of communication has always run alongside that for associationism, where amongst civil battles and ever new professional collaborations she has been able to develop, dealing with management and communication in complex projects such as the Casa delle Donne di Lecce and the Spazio Multiculturale Crocevia.

Since 2012 she has been collaborating with Bande a Sud, a festival that has been running for seven years in her hometown; a project which is dedicated to “bande da giro” (traditional southern Italian music bands) and to contemporary musical contaminations, for whom she has been handling communication. She has been working for Matera 2019 since August 2018 and is convinced that it is an important project for all of southern Italy.

Francesco Blasi is a ‘viral creative’, who is passionate about new technologies, social media and journalism.

After graduating in Sciences of Social Communication, he gained two Master’s Degrees in “Public & Parliamentary Affairs” and “Planning and Communication for Cultural Heritage”.

He works as a teacher, a trainer, a cultural planner, a communication manager and an advisor for several companies and bodies.

Francesco founded the web and communication agency “Sud’Altro Consulting”, which is based in Potenza.

He is a registered freelance journalist, co-director of the magazine “X100 Magazine”, author of the book and of the cultural itinerary “Sulle Tracce di Francois Lenormant- Taccuino di Viaggio”.

Francesco is engaged in associations and he disseminates and coordinates educational projects. He is the contact person for the National Communication of UNESCO Youth Association.

He lives in Basilicata, which he loves very much along with its villages and hamlets. He likes practicing sports and reading historical novels.

Born in Udine in 1991, Deborah is proud of her Friuli origins, but as a citizen of the world she never misses an opportunity to travel and get to know new cities and cultures. At 17 she left home for her first work experience as an animator in tourist resorts. With a thirst for knowledge and good social skills, she completed her studies at the psycho-pedagogical high school with top marks, going on to study law at university. Two years later she realised that she had not made the right choice and moved to Liverpool for a few months. Meeting and exchanging views with young people from different countries fired her enthusiasm and she returned to Italy to study public relations at the University of Udine. Under the Erasmus Project she studied for a semester in Barcelona at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. With four other international students she set up ERASMOBILITY 2016, a lobbying campaign directed at the European Commission to obtain more funding to support future generations of Erasmus students. The group was invited to present the project in Brussels. She completed her degree in 2017 with a thesis on 'Lovable women and ambitious men: how gender stereotypes sabotage female careers from infancy'. She collaborated with the Be Nice agency in Trieste and other organisations that manage info points and reception services at festivals and cultural and tourist events in Friuli-Venezia-Giulia such as Friuli doc and Pordenonelegge. In January 2018 she won a scholarship and moved to Rome to take a Level 1 Masters at the IULM, the Free University of Languages and Communication, in Management of Artistic and Cultural Resources. In September of the same year she followed a six-month training course at the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation on Management and Communication. She was part of the communication team for Every Body Talks, a collective exhibition held in Rome in November 2018. Curated by students of the 8th MaRAC masters, the exhibition explored the role of the human body as an immediate communication tool through the work of artists of international standing, including Liu Bolin, Spencer Tunick, Shadi Ghadirian, Tadao Cern, Erin Zerbe, Cristina Coral and Micaela Lattanzio.

In March 2019 she achieved her Masters in Management of Artistic and Cultural Resources with a mark of 70/70 cum laude and began working with the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation as Communication and Marketing Assistant.

Meanwhile, she loves to keep in touch, though from a distance, with the activities of the Pro Loco in her small provincial town and with a group of volunteers and educators she has been part of since she was 15. She adores jazz and good food, and firmly believes in the potential of Italy’s cultural and natural heritage.

Mariateresa Cascino is from Matera and is 46 years old. She holds a degree with honours in Communication Sciences, with a specialization in marketing. She is a journalist, publicist and consultant in marketing and communication for private and public organizations. She gained professional experience in Italy and in the USA (Boston and New York) working in institutional and corporate communications and on expansion and internationalization projects in the American market. She has created marketing plans, carried out feasibility studies and managed public relations for investors interested in both Northern America and Italy. She is a Europhile, and has worked for the Department for Public Administration, dealing with information about the structural funds of Objective 1 Regions. She has also developed integrated communication and advertising campaigns to support institutional communications about the ERDF structural funds of the Basilicata Region.
In the field of tourism, she worked for the Agency of Territorial Promotion of Basilicata and she oversaw the editing of a guidebook on film tourism in Basilicata. She has also worked for travel agencies, and film agencies, and was involved in audio-visual marketing projects aimed at promoting Italian destinations and brands.
Mariateresa is co-founder and president of the Women’s Fiction Festival in Matera, the only literary festival in Europe focused on the Writer’s Conference aims of discovering new talent and promoting women’s fiction. In the field of culture, she has been deeply involved both in the development of Visioni Urbane for the implementation of centres of creativity in Basilicata and in the exciting challenge of the candidacy of Matera 2019. Since May 2018, she has been collaborating on marketing, communication and fundraising activities with the General Director of the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation.

Cultural and creative enterprises – Cultural policies, creative enterprise, social impact, the state of the art in Emilia-Romagna (2018).
From 2016 to 2018 she worked with the Santarcangelo dei Teatri association, organiser of the Santarcangelo Festival–the longest running festival dedicated to the contemporary performing arts in Italy – with the duties of marketing and fund raising. For Santarcangelo dei Teatri she establishes and manages relationships with sponsors, she deals with strategic planning and the setting up of fund raising campaigns. Since July 2018 she has been working for Matera - Basilicata 2019 Foundation, assisting the General Director in marketing and fund raising.

Elga Melucci was born in Muro Lucano near Potenza in 1986. She graduated in Advertising Communication from the University for foreigners in Perugia with an experimental thesis on non-conventional marketing in collaboration with the Wilton's Music Hall, that is the oldest theatre in London.

During her studies she worked in digital communication for several communication agencies and for the libraries in Perugia.

Former digital nomad, Claudio Amendolagine has been a Social Media Marketing consultant for companies and SMEs in Italy and abroad since 2010. He is co-founder of the Fractals start-up of Milan and taught the “Video Viral Marketing” module of the Sole 24 ore Masters in Digital Communication in Milan (2012). He currently leads workshops on Social Media Marketing for Companies at the Vocational Training Agency of Matera. Claudio is creator of the lifestyle blog calao.me and a contributor to the ModalitàDemodé web magazine. He is also creator and administrator of a digital project, PVF Matera il Mito, and recently published the project in book form, entitled “VincereTutto'. .
After completing an Erasmus internship at the University of Helsinki, Claudio studied International Relations at the L’Orientale University of Naples. Then he completed a Master in European Public Relations at the Ateneo Impresa Business School in Rome. He spent two years in the United Kingdom (2008-2009), where he completed an internship with the Leonardo Da Vinci Project. He also spent two years (2013-2015) in Sydney, Australia.
After his long journey of learning and experimentation he returned to Basilicata to close the circle and to contribute to making a change in his hometown of Matera, as a member of the communication team for the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation.

Serena Ribisi was born in Sicily and loves books and words, a passion that led to a degree in Modern Literature at the University of Palermo. In 2012 she started to work with Navarra Editore, and the Una Marina di libri book festival in Palermo. At the same time, she helped to set up a small company, Veritec Srl, where she worked as administrator. Dividing her work time between two apparently unconnected areas, culture and business, made her realise she needed to acquire skills that would provide her with financial support while doing what she loves.

So she moved to Venice and took a degree in Economics, Arts and Cultural Activities Management at Ca’ Foscari University and in the meantime worked with entities involved in exhibition and event organisation, like We Exhibit and her university.

After her degree, she decided to return to sunny Sicily, to work in cultural planning for the Farm Cultural Park at Favara. While doing this she also completed a Masters in Economics and Management of Cultural Property and UNESCO Heritage.

In 2018 she was selected to take part in the initiative Build Up by the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation, which enabled her to become an official Linker-Junior. This exciting training and social experience made her passionate about the Matera European Capital of Culture project.

Since April 2019 she has been working as Online Ticketing and Info Point Manager and hopes that the south of Italy will benefit from the legacy of Matera 2019.

Fabio Rizzi was born in 1993 and grew up in Matera listening from childhood (thanks to his grandfather!) to folk songs from Matera and popular songs from the Zecchino D’Oro children’s song festival.

In 2017 he gained a degree in Environmental and Territorial Engineering at the University of Basilicata. He is particularly interested in protection of the environment and prevention of pollution.

His love of history and the attraction and art of Matera were put to good use in 2016 when he was asked by the Chair of the Matera Inside Association to take responsibility for the blogs and Facebook page with other enthusiastic young people, which was an unmissable opportunity. In (so far) two and a half years at Matera Inside research carried out to write articles and getting to know new people for the video archives contributed enormously to Fabio’s cultural and social experience, helping him to be chosen from 40 'Makers & Linkers' who were involved in building cultural skills for Matera 2019.

At the end of the build up and after eight working in a waste disposal company in Matera, he was selected as assistant to the Incoming Manager of the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation.

For just over a year he has been a member of the Matera 2019 web team, which has the honour of collaborating with events at the level of Materadio 2017 and Meno Uno.

Ariane Bieou is now responsible of the coordination and implementation of the cultural programme of Matera-Basilicata 2019, Capitale europea della cultura. Matera, European Capital of Culture 2019. A new european adventure for an "Open Future!". "What can Matera give to Europe? and what can Europe give to Matera?" is the new motto. The millennium city is the playground, artists are mess-players, permanent and temporary inhabitants are the protagonists, co-creation is the rule-process, future is the next level.
Starting officially on the 19th of January 2019 but so much is already happening in Matera. What an amazing experience to share.
Beforehand, she worked for 15 years in Italy as qualified architect, first as associated architect and then in the management of cultural projects in the field of performing arts, particularly in designing, managing and coordinating art events in public spaces or in connection with heritage.
She was also representing the italian partnership from 2006 of IN SITU, the European network for artistic creation in public space. From 2011, she coordinated IN SITU as project manager, leaded by Lieux publics, centre national de création (Marseille – France), and ran the EU funded projects META 2011-2016, IN SITU Platform 2014-2017 and IN SITU ACT 2016-2020 gathering 25 partners from 17 countries throughout Europe. From 2003 , through five projects financed by the European Commission, the activity of IN SITU covered project launches, artistic production, European residences, transnational programming as well as the development and evaluation of pilot actions promoting mobility.

Born in Florence 1989, Pietro Stori lived in Genoa and then in Rome. After obtaining the High School Diploma in Classical Studies, he got a Bachelor Degree in Philosophy from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. He then specialized in German Idealism at the Friedrich SchillerUniversität in Jena.
He took part in research projects on German Enlightenment at WestfälischeWilhelms-Universität of Münster first and then at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”.
He taught Italian language to migrants at the Cultural Association Insensoinverso in the suburb Magliana in Rome and collaborated with the Scuola Popolare Piero Bruno, that was set up by a group of university students aiming at fighting against school dropout.
In 2017 he was selected for the programme “Generazione cultura”, a Top Vocational Training Course organized by MiBACT (The Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage) and the Luiss Business School. He then carried out a traineeship at Matera Basilicata 2019 Foundation in the “Cultural area” and now he is the Assistant of the Cultural Manager Mrs. Ariane Bieou. He is in charge with the designing and the management of the Matera 2019 cultural programme.
As Project Manager, he curated the contemporary Art Exhibition MAPS at the Italian Geographical Society.

Born in the Vesuvian area, a nomad at heart and with a flair for management, Agostino Riitano tests patterns of urban regeneration through the valorization of the cultural heritage and creative businesses, starting up co-creation processes and social innovation projects. In 2014 he was one of the members of the artistic management team whose objective was the setting up of a cultural programme for the candidacy bid book of Matera as the European Capital of Culture.

Paola Lopes graduated with a second level University Masters degree in Art Management from the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and then from the Alma Mater Studiorum of Bologna. She is a cultural economist in the creative sector. She moved to Berlin, Germany, where she worked in the operational headquarters of Artfacts.net, a company promoting contemporary art from London. There she wrote her thesis on cultural districts, analysing the benefits of a strategic plan for the creative sector to improve community well-being. In 2008, thanks to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs CRUI program, she worked at the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles setting up a cultural program promoting Italian identity in the United States. In Italy she has worked with several multi-national corporations such as Sixty spa and the Fater/Proctor& Gamble, market leaders in fashion and in personal care. In these roles, she deepened her understanding of the economic criteria for cost-effective production in creative industries. She has used these skills in a number of creative projects in which she has been actively involved. These include a project in Rome to set up and develop the smART-Polo for art start-up; another R.O.P Abruzzi ESF project in Matera focusing on research and district development; and a third in Abruzzi for another territorial development plan co-financed with PAR FSC 2007-2013 funds from the Abruzzi Region.

Alessandro Ottenga graduated in International and EU Law at the University of Turin, Faculty of Law.

He is the director of ago Ltd, a company set up in 2016 and specializing in providing integrated consulting services involving specific expertise in project management, Euro planning, fundraising and technical assistance in the administrative, financial and legislative fields. As a project manager he is an expert in cultural management, in particular in project design, project direction, production and production supervision, audience development and engagement, process monitoring and evaluation. He is also experienced in designing, coordinating and managing projects included in the framework of the main European - as well as national and regional - planning initiatives such as Creative Europe, Horizon 2020, ESF and Obiettivo Cooperazione. Moreover, he is an expert in planning, setting up and developing strategies to foster local development especially by using methods that promote cooperation and bottom-up processes.

Since 2008 he has designed, organized and coordinated cultural projects and events focusing on visuals, i.e. photography, video, cinema and visual arts in general. Since 2010, he has been teaching “Cultural Project Management” in schools and training programmes focusing on photography and visuals.

Paolo Mele was born in 1981 in the farthest point of Apulia. He was a researcher in Communication and New Technologies at IULM in Milan and a visiting researcher at the New School of New York from 2013 to 2015.

Since 2011 he has been the director of the organization Random, which deals with contemporary artistic and cultural planning. Since 2015, he has also been the manager of the cultural and artistic centre Lastation, which is in Gagliano Leuca, the furthest railway station in the south-east of Apulia. In 2013 he started the project "Indagine sulle Terre Estreme" (investigation into the extreme lands) which uses contemporary art to critically analyze the territory of the Capo di Leuca (the southernmost point in Apulia)

As an expert in media and cultural planning, he worked for the Biennalle of Young Artists from Europe and the Mediterranean (BJCEM) and with several international organizations including the World Bank, New Art Exchange, ResidencyUnlimited and Fondazione Veronesi.

In Lecce he was a co-founder and coordinator of the Observatory of Political Communication of the University of Salento and the cooperative P.A.Z., which deals with communications and media.

Domenico Bruno is a migrant soul. He was born in Matera in 1975 and in the 1990s he gained a Degree in Economic Policy AT Modena. In the 2000s, he moved to Milan to complete a Masters in Musical Communication AT Cattolica University.

In Milan, he worked in production in the sector of live music and major corporate events, first for BarleyArts and then for F&P Group. Working in production, he is always on tour, travelling around Italy and Europe to meet the most popular Italian and international pop singers. When he became Executive Producer in 2007, he flew to a Spanish island as he enjoyed being surrounded by the sea. In 2008 he returned to Matera. He regularly works in Rome as a production specialist in the broadcasting sector and the film industry. He collaborates with EBU-Eurovision, Rai Cinema, Sky Italia and FPC srl.

Tommaso Delvecchio, born in Matera in 1974, attended the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Florence, specializing in museum installations and design. Following his passion for the fashion sector, he began a career as a designer that led him to work for brands such as Yves Saint Laurent, Dsquared2 and Gucci.
From 2006 to 2014 he worked for the Silk Accessories division of Gucci, which proved to be a dynamic and stimulating experience.
In 2006 he founded MT Project studio, based in Florence. The studio develops projects in different areas of design with the ART DELIVERY project, designing artistic and cultural settings.
In 2016 he became Art Creative Director for the Brick design project and after a couple of years, in 2018, he became Art Creative Director for the Breadway - Le Vie del Pane project; one of the 27 projects in the Matera 2019 European Capital of Culture dossier entrusted to local creative (cultural?) operators from Basilicata.
Tommaso is currently a project manager for the Matera Basilicata 2019 Foundation, collaborating with Japanese artists within the EU-Japan Fest project and in particular; the large-scale artistic installations of Takaski Kuribayashi, the performance by H.Umeda, the exhibition of photography European Eyes on Japan and the avant-garde performances of Hiroaki Umeda. He also collaborates in the production of various other projects, including Matera Città Aperta, Silent City, Abitare l'Opera, Remix the Future e Open Playful Space.

Born in Genoa, Valentina Milano moved at the age of nine with her family to Paterno, a small village in Basilicata. Initially because of her studies and then because of her work, she has lived in several cities in Italy – Pisa, Bologna, Modena, and Milan – and she spent one year in Madrid.

In each place she always sought to be part of a community and to establish links and connections.

In 2004 she graduated in Political Sciences from the University of Pisa specializing in International Politics. In that year she completed a second-level Masters in Social Policies and Management for Sustainable Development of Territory. When she was in Bologna, she collaborated with several associations for the enhancement of marginalized social groups and for the promotion of social cohesion.

In 2008 she moved to Milan for work. The experience in Milan deeply influenced her professional career because she could observe at first hand the latest developments in the third sector and social innovations.

She worked for 8 years on the transformation of the cooperative “La Fabbrica di Olinda” into a social enterprise. Set up with the aim of regenerating the building that had housed the former psychiatric hospital “Paolo Pini” in the northern suburbs of the city, the cooperative had become a symbol of marginalization. The new social enterprise has had a great social and cultural impact thanks to projects like “Cultura e Periferia” and “Le fondamenta degli incurabili – Bando Beni culturali”, which were co-financed and co-produced with Fondazione Cariplo – Culture Area.

Sometimes the group came up with innovative ideas, while at times it had to recognise its own limits. The suburbs can be a hard place to live and think about the future. This work in the suburbs made her reflect more deeply on the concept of suburban area/areas.

Milan, and some other Italian cities, are well ahead in the field of social innovation and sometimes they seem to be darting for the finishing line. Other places, both in the North and in the South, are left behind. Enticed by this idea, in 2016 she decided to come back to Basilicata where she started her frontline work on the issues she feels most involved in - child poverty and education, and the inclusion of migrants in the local community. To this aim she worked with a social-promotion association in the management of the town's play center and coordinated the project “Italiano per migranti (Italian language for migrants)” at the CAS of Paterno in the province of Potenza.

In the last two years she has continued her studies. She completed the Memis first-level Masters degree (Master in Economics, Management and Social Innovation) at the Economics Faculty of Tor Vergata University of Rome and gained two professional qualifications: ‘ISIPM base: Project manager’ and ‘DITALS I: teaching Italian as a foreign language’.

Gessica Paolicelli was born in Matera in 1972. After gaining a Degree in the Disciplines of Arts, Music and Entertainment from the University of Bologna, she specialized in Management and Multimedia Services for Culture and in Cultural Management. She also gained a Masters in Entertainment Projects and Events Management from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at Federico II University of Naples, in collaboration with the Stoà Institute of Studies for Business Management.

She is a cultural arts event manager, publicist and journalist, and has worked

for Ergo Sum Produzioni of Rome, and, from 2012 to summer 2016, for the annual seasons of opera, ballet and symphonic orchestras of the Fondazione Petruzzelli in Bari.

She was artistic co-manager and stage manager of Petramorphosis, a theatrical performance which was part of the RelAzioni project by Ismezonlus (National Institute for Musical Development of the Mezzoggiorno of Italy) and which was

performed in 2008 in Basilicata.

She collaborated with the Galleria Opera Arte & Arti of Matera ON the organization and the promotion of prestigious contemporary art shows, and with several Lucanian associations (Amabili Confini, Le Città di Pietra, La Fenice, Allelammie, Cinefabrica) to design and carry out artistic and social activities, exhibitions and film festivals.

Gessica completed an internship at AICER (the Agency for Cultural Events of Emilia Romagna Region) of Bologna. She was also involved in fund-raising and co-marketing with business for the first edition of Napoli Teatro Festival Italia. She taught simulated event management training as part of the “Tra le terre di mezzo”, A Hermes Teatro Laboratorio theatre company project.

She collaborated with the Coordination of Choreographers and Contemporary Dancers of Bologna for the Arkivia-Danza Project, promoted and financed within the framework of activities for Bologna 2000, European Capital of Culture. She is passionate about the performing arts, and has participated in courses, seminars, theatre and dance laboratories led by notable university professors, theatre companies and film makers. She loves nature and practices yoga.

Born in 1979, a cinema lover, she learnt to watch films before she learnt to read and write. At 14 she became a member of the Cineteca Lucana,with whom she organised festivals and exhibitions.

Having moved to Rome, in 2005 she graduated from la “Sapienza” University of Rome in “Performance Genres and Techniques: Cinema, Theatre and TV”, creating a medium-length film for her experimental dissertation project on Jean-Luc Godard. She subsequently completed a master’s in “The Press Office for the Cinema” organised by the Gruppo Nazionale Giornalisti Ufficio Stampa (National Group of Press Office Journalists) of Rome, the Sindacato Nazionale Giornalisti Cinematografici (National Union of Italian Film Industry Journalists) of Romeand the Consiglio Nazionale dell’Ordine dei Giornalisti (National Council of the Journalists’ Association).Her career took off amidst the lines of articles written for specialist sites and journals.

In 2006 she returned to Basilicata and started working for Noeltan Film, as coordinator of the 3rd edition of the Potenza Film Festival as well as for the Giuria dei Ragazzi and as a teacher with PFF Labs.

At the end of 2007 she founded the cultural association“La Settima Arte”,of which she is president. The association operates in audio-visual and photographic production and post-production (from the screenplay to editing), and in event organisation (from cinema to street art, all the way to contemporary social circuses).

In 2007 she also started to collaborate with the Lucania Film Festival, for whom, beginning in 2016, she started working as a scientific consultant, organiser and teacher.

In 2010 she became a teaching fellow for the chair of “History and Theory of the Cinema” held by Professor Manuela Gieri, at Unibas, and won a research doctorate in “Contemporary History”, with a project on Italian documentaries from the ’50s and ’60s as historical sources, thanks to which she won a study grant at the New Sorbonne University - Paris III. Since last year she has worked as a contract lecturer at Unibas in “Laboratori di cinematografia e critica cinemografica” (Cinematography Workshops and Cinematography Criticism).

Since 2006 she has been teaching cinema, photography and theatre in schools, for master’s programmes and with institutions which deal with youth issues, and she has written various essays and articles for national and international magazines and journals.

She has participated in workshops and seminars with Abbas Kiarostami, Roman Polanski, Marco Bellocchio, Fabio Ferzetti, Doriana Leondeff.

Nicolangelo Schettini was born in 1990 in Lauria (Pz). He studied at the Alma Mater Studiorum at the University of Bologna where he gained a Bachelors degree in International Studies and a Masters degree with honours in International Cooperation, Protection of Human Rights and Ethno-cultural Heritage.

Thanks to the Erasmus+ Programme, he had a chance to study and hone his skills in The Netherlands at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam. While a student, he worked as a library assistant at the BUB (Bologna University Library) where he was involved in the first digital cataloguing of the music archives of the Library.

His international interests and passion for art merged in the desire for learning the rules of cultural event management and realization. In 2012 he approached the Matera-European Capital of Culture 2019 project and attended the Flash Master in “Cultural Event Management” organized in Matera within the framework of “Festival of Festivals” and dedicated to cultural operators. In 2017 he earned a Master in Entertainment Business from the University of Bologna. He could attend the lessons of distinguished professionals such as Lucio Argano, Vincenzo Cavaliere, Antonio Taormina, Andrea Maulini, Franco Bianchini, Giovanni Scoz, Mimma Gallina, MicheleTrimarchi. Then he earned an internship at the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation, allowing him to collaborate with the staff and participate in many events.

He also took part in the Build Up program of the Foundation and was selected as“Maker”. Since 2019 he has been production assistant for Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation.

Marta Mantovani was born in Verona in 1990. After obtaining her high school diploma in foreign languages, she attended the Faculty of Sociology at the University of Trento. She went on an Erasmus course to complete her third year of studies at Bath University, in Great Britain. She gained her Bachelor of Arts in 2013.

Marta moved to Florence where she had several professional experiences. Later, she attended two traineeships abroad, at the Department of the Veneto Region in Brussels and at the Italian Embassy in the United States respectively. On this last occasion she had the chance to work on the importance and cross-references of cultural topics in international relationships. After, she moved back to Italy and in 2017 she gained a Master’s degree in International studies with honours.

After completing the programme “Generazione Cultura” by the Luiss Business School, she started a traineeship in the Culture Department of the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation.

Marta has gained a lot of experience in volunteering and in particular she has taught Italian to foreign children and teen-agers. She firmly believes that culture can help strengthen social relationships and disseminate a pattern of living together, relying on the values of democracy and solidarity.

Eugenia Brienza was born on 6th April 1970. Characterized by an inquisitive mind, she is versatile, and good at managing challenging situations. She is also careful, reliable, good at working autonomously and focused on expected objectives. She is responsible, scrupulous and disciplined. Being very understanding and sensitive to other people’s needs, she greatly contributes to the excellent performance of the team work. She thinks that working as a part of a team is a great opportunity for personal growth as it involves sharing views, tasks and setting out precise roles.

She gained a ten-year long experience in technical assistance in EU funds and active labour market policies. She worked with schools and educational institutions to implement and improve placement services, to promote public notices for company funding as well as to support labour agencies. She organized, implemented and managed internships and contracts for high-education apprenticeships. She improved the methodologies and activities by developing the needs’ analysis of the people involved in the supply and demand dynamics which characterize the labour market.

Eugenia has been in charge of the organization and logistics of a number of cultural events over the last ten years. She dealt with planning, administrative management and accounting, thereby gaining remarkable experience in monitoring and controlling both the planning and the management of complex work procedures.

As an expert in planning, management and accounting of vocational training programmes, financed through ESF and Interprofessional funds, she worked with accredited bodiesas a process manager.

She is passionate about reading and she is also fond of animals looking after them with great sensitivity and care.

Vito Accettura was born in Pisticci in 1989 and lives in Nova Siri in the province of Matera.

During his studies at the high school - specialising in classical studies - , he developed an interest in economy which he then decided to study at university.

In 2012 he gained a bachelor’s degree in Economy and Business Management with the dissertation titled “Lo sviluppo turistico in Basilicata” (The development of tourism in Basilicata), since tourism is his main topic of interest. In 2014 he gained a Masters Degree in Economics with the dissertation “Turismo in Basilicata – limite o risorsa” (Tourism in Basilicata a constraint or a resource).

Since he started university, he often went to his father’s company where he collaborated with his colleagues, thereby fostering his interest in the profession of accountant. From 2014 to 2016 he completed the internship required for passing the state exam to be registered in the national list of accountants. In that period he dealt with bookeeping and financial statements specialising in management control and facilitated financing.

In 2015, he passed a selection for a position at the “AREA Science Park – Trieste” at the “TREP Srl” where he was involved in management control and re-invoicing in the field of D.O.

In 2017 he qualified as a certified public accountant at the University of Calabria.

Later, he qualified as an auditor after completing the internship required.

Since 2011 he has been the owner, director and administrator of a non-hotel facility.

In 2018 he started to work with the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation where he deals with administration activities, e-procurement and accounting.

Emilio Aquino was born in Rome in 1991. He completed his high school diploma in classical studies and then gained a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the La Sapienza University in Rome. From 2015 to 2016 he lived in Jena (Germany), where he carried out research projects in German Idealism at the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität. In 2017 he was granted a doctoral fellowship by the “Tor Vergata” University in Rome.

He collaborated with the FAI in setting up the “Wunderkammer” by Athanasius Kircher at the Roman College. He also worked as a volunteer for the NGO “Brontosaurus Movement Jesenicky” in the Czeck Republic and he was then selected to take part in “Generazione Cultura”, the higher education project promoted by the MiBact and the Luiss Business School.

After a 6-month internship at the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation, he started to work in the Finance and Administration Area of Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation, where he deals with the physical and financial monitoring processes of the cultural programme as well as with the implementation of the Monitoring and Evaluation Plan.

Margherita Romaniello originally wanted to become an archaeologist. This passion meant that, as a journalist, she was drawn towards the field of communication about Lucanian cultural heritage.

She pursued classical studies and earned various masters in communication in the Public Administration. From 2006 to 2012 as manager for communication and special projects at Basilicata Agency for the Promotion of the Territory (APT), she carried out a great deal of promotional activity of Basilicata. She was the creator of the format “Basilicata - Land of Cinema” as a way of promoting Lucanian Cinema in Rome and she worked in communication for the Festival Due Mondi of Spoleto. She has edited several publications, one of which - Archeonauta - covers Lucanian archaeological heritage.

She has designed and implemented many cultural projects for the promotion of Basilicata, involving famous people. This includes Francis Ford Coppola, for a TV commercial and Alessio Boni for a theatre performance on Horace. She is responsible for Special and International Cooperation Projects in the Foundation. She is crazy about her cats.

Rosa Colucci, born in Accettura (a small town in the Matera mountains),completed her schooling at the Istituto tecnico commerciale (technical and commercial high school)“S.Nitti” in Potenza and graduated in economy at the University of Bari, with first class honours.

Enrolled in the Ordine dei Dottori Commercialisti ed Esperti Contabili di Matera (Association of Chartered Accountants and Accounting Consultants of Matera), today she works as a chartered accountant and auditor with local authorities in the Basilicata region.

She has always loved to mix tradition and innovation, seeking, through continued study and research, new projects to develop with ambition and passion.

Determined and logical, she believes in things only when she touches them with her own hands; method, order and broad analytical skills are the qualities that distinguish her at work.

She loves reading in her free time and she also loves to travel, sharing new experiences with her family and long-time friends.

Born on the 6th December 1986, Rossella Tantone obtained an MA first-class honours degree from the University of Rome (RomaTre) in International Affairs specializing in studies on peace, democracy and conflict resolution. During her studies she took part in the “Global South-South Development Expo 2011” organized by FAO and had the chance to focus on the major themes concerning diplomacy at international and European level, on the United Nations Organization with its several departments and agencies, on the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe as well as on the various Non-Governmental Organizations.

A graduate in international cooperation at the “L'Orientale” University of Naples, since 2011 she has been working as a consultant for public administration, dealing with the administrative management of European cooperation projects financed by ESF, ERDF and EAFRD funds (South-East Europe, InterregMed and Interreg Europe programmes). In 2013 she completed a second-level master’s in cultural policy and management at the University of Arts in Belgrade and the Lumière UniversityLyon II. In 2014 she worked as an Assistant to the Project Manager for the European cultural network Banlieues d'Europe in Lyon, managing projects financed by the programmes Creative Europe, Youth in Action and Erasmus Plus. After spending five years working and studying in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia and France, in 2015 she came back to Italy and has since collaborated with various creative organisations in Basilicata (Arci, Multietnica, Associazione Krikka, Cecilia Centro per la Creatività). She speaks fluent English and French and has enough Serbo-Croatian to blend in with ease on her frequent journeys to the former Yugoslavia. In December 2017 she joined the Matera 2019 team, where she deals with Monitoring, Reporting and Human Resources in the Administration and Finance Area.

Originally from Puglia, Mara Tamburrano has been passionate about classical literature since her teens, leading her to take, a high school diploma in classical studies. Her in-depth study of Greek and Latin literature and philosophical and historical subjects enabled her to develop a problem-solving approach in direction from literature to law studies at the Faculty of Law of Aldo Moro University of Bari.

She graduated with honours, with an experimental dissertation on Employment Law focused on the analysis of Apulian law relating professional apprenticeships. She did a period as a trainee lawyer in Taranto, dealing with subjects related to different aspects of civil and administrative law.

She extended her professional skills in the field of public tenders by attending targeted training courses and collaborating with local companies requiring support for the management of internal tendering departments. After passing the bar exam, she decided to open her own law firm in Massafra.

In 2018,professional unease combined with her innate spiritual dynamism and new ideas, led Mara to enter a public competition which she noticed almost by chance. As a result, she started a new adventure at the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation in the Administration department. She is responsible for directing the thriving creativity of the cultural areas of the Foundation within a rigourous organizational and procedural framework with the aim of finding a perfect harmony between cultural project ideas and the strict procedures needed to implement them.

After completing his high school diploma in scientific studies, Danilo Lista gained a degree in Law from the University of Bari with a dissertation on administrative law.

He passed the bar exam. He has been working as a lawyer for ten years, gaining valuable experiences in the field of civil law, in particular as a consultant to enterprises involved in public works. He works as a lawyer for several public bodies.

He is the editor of the law column in the magazine “Il Metapontino”.

In 2015 he completed the master Altalex in entertainment law in Rome.

Passionate about jazz, he plays the trumpet and sings. He organises events and in 2004 was the artistic director of the “Policoro Jazz Fest”.

In 2008 he founded the cultural association Alia, which launched the event “Policoro in Musica” first and “Policoro in Swing” in 2013.

Born in 1992, Concettina Sarlo lives in Colobraro, a small Lucanian village close to the Ionian Sea. In 2014 she did a work experience for the company ariaprofumata®, for whom she collaborated in 2015 at Expo Milan inside the Cenacolo di Leonardo on the “The Last Supper. Contemporary sharings” installation. She dealt with market analysis, new trends and competition,and olfactory market research. The experience gained through planningwith EU funds as Vice President of the cultural association Sognando il Magico Paese di Colobraro(Dreaming of the Magical Town of Colobraro) in 2014 influenced her career greatly. In 2015 she completed a degree in Tourism at the University of Pisa, writing her dissertation in “marketing olfattivo applicator al Turismo “ (olfactory marketing applied to tourism), analysing in-depth the methodology of promoting a region through sensorial marketing. In 2015 she held the role of Junior Marketing Advertising Executive in the company Gieffe Services in Senise, performing duties such as the launch of the BasilicataCityGuide product, brand development and market analysis, strengthening relations with public institutions, museums and tourist attractions of interest to the company. In 2016 she was on the staff of the brand new DanaideResort 4* in Scanzano Jonico. Fired by her passion for tourism connected to her beloved homeland she gained the qualification of Cultural Designer in 2017, after completing a master’s in design and communication for the cultural heritage of the Basilicata, writing her dissertation in “Europrogettazione turistica e analisi del territorio di Basilicata”(European Project Design and Management in Tourism and Analysis of the Basilicata Area),with the managing authority of ERDF Basilicata Operational Programmes acting as her supervisor.

He spent a year on Erasmus at the UAL in Almerìa (Spain) and then he took a gap year, grape harvesting in France, busking in Belgium, volunteering in Brazil and running a small bar in a hostel in Buenos Aires.

Becky Riches is half English and half Irish but has lived in Matera since 2007. She graduated with a law degree in the U.K. in 1997 which included one year studying at Modena University, through the E.U. Erasmus programme. This year in Italy changed the direction of her life as she fell in love with the Italian language and culture and, subsequently, decided to complete a Master in European Business with Italian.
After 8 years working and traveling in a multinational environment, based both in the UK and Milan, she moved to Matera with her (Lucanian) husband, driven by a (since proven) suspicion that the quality of life might be higher there. A life choice made possible by a professional transformation.
In the last ten years she has worked in the tourism sector, promoting Basilicata with incoming packages and through the development of a sustainable tourism project, Lucania Living, specialised in welcoming new non-Italian home owners, the restoration of ancient and abandoned rural villages, forging cultural bridges and harnessing the authenticity of Southern Italy to define a sustainable future. Currently, after joining the Matera 2019 Build Up process dedicated to Makers and Linkers, Becky is project coordinator for the Development and Relations team.
In 2016 she joined the cultural association ‘Matera Letteratura’ and helps organise the historical literary festival, 'Women's Fiction Festival', with public and school events and its international writers’ conference.
Becky is the proud mother of twin girls who are undeniably and very contentedly ‘materane’.

Born in Marsicovetere in 1983, graduated in International Relations (2007) and specialized in International System and Foreign Policy (2009) at the University of Perugia, Achille lived in Brazil from 2010 to 2017, working in the field of cultural diplomacy, both Italian (Embassy of Italy in Brasilia, 2010-2014) and European (EUNIC Brazil / EU Delegation 2014-2017). His professional career has developed particularly in the sector of the Country System promotion, external relations, project management and events organization. Recently, he obtained a master's degree in Media and Lobbying in International and European Relations at the Italian Society for International Organization (2018), with a thesis on the EU Brand.
As coordinator of the EUNIC Brazil (Association of Cultural Institutions, Embassies and Consulates of EU Member States in Brazil), he managed the clusters of Brasilia, Curitiba, Salvador and Rio de Janeiro in the formulation of the 2015-2018 Triennial Strategy and the implementation of three editions of the European Week, a cultural project carried out in collaboration with the EU Delegation, including dozens of events in thirteen Brazilian capitals.
At the Italian Embassy, working at Culture and Communication Department, he has participated in the organization of "Momento Itália-Brasil" (Italy-Brazil Moment) (2011-2012) and "Itália na Copa" (Italy in the World Cup) (2014): more than 500 events realized for the cultural, economic and scientific promotion of Italy in Brazil. He was also a member of the Italian Delegation to the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development “Rio + 20” (2012), responsible for promoting the Green Embassy Project. Finally, he has supported the activities of the Economic-Commercial Office in the organization of international conferences.
After living for eight years in the heart of South America, he decided to return to Europe and in particular to his native land fascinated by the Matera 2019 project, with the firm conviction that culture is a powerful tool to foster the dialogue and integration among peoples, as well as to promote socio-economic development.

Marco Laterza is an architect from Montescaglioso - Matera. He studied in Turin, Barcelona (Spain) and Nancy (France) where he graduated in 2012. His professional research is driven by the study of the relationship between historical and contemporary architecture.

In 2013 he collaborated with the architectural firm of Antonio Jimenez Torrecillas in Spain, working on projects such as the adaptation of the Museum of modern Andalusian art in the Palacio of Carlos V, within the Unesco complex of the Alhambra.

From 2014 to 2015 he worked at the BQ + A Studio, prix d'Argent for architecture in 2015 for the new medical center in the Unesco village of Vézeley.

Here he participated in the creation of "Avenir Radieux", an association of architecture for the revitalization of ancient villages and of the 1st Architecture Seminary in Pesmes collaborating with architects Clement Vergely, CAB and Stefano Moor.

From 2015 he returned to Matera where he worked as a freelance architect for projects on the existing heritage.

Since 2016 he has been the coordinator of the Open Design School for which he organized the workshops, the exhibition "Through the city - the way of the sun", the setting up of Matera 2019 for the Milan Fuorisalone 2017 and the IDEA conference - food for art with Mauro Bubbico.

Pasquale Montemurro attended the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Politecnico di Bari. In 2014 he joined Syskrack Lab in Grassano, the first FabLab of Basilicata, as Project Manager. In 2016 he assumed the role of Lab Manager and in the same year the small digital manufacturing laboratory was counted among the 10 most important FabLabs in Italy by Wired magazine. At Syskrack Lab he has designed projects such as the Syskrack Evo open source 3D printer and the portable digital radio/FM Open Radio, and joined the international e-Nable community for the production and donation of low-cost prosthesis in 3D printing for

children. Since 2015 he has held courses in CAD drawing and additive manufacturing, training more than 100 students and professionals. In 2017 he founded Bad Maker Lab, a company of professional services for 3D printing rapid prototyping, training, consulting and supply of machinery and consumables. From January 2018 he is Lab Manager at the Open Design School of Matera.

Paolo D'Ercole, born in Matera, based his training on the study of communication in all its forms. Photographer, sommelier and digital communication enthusiast, he graduated in Communication Sciences at the "La Sapienza" University of Rome. His first project is a research on the Lucanian community in Argentina, experimenting photography as a tool for sociological analysis. The work will end with a video of migrant memoirs entitled "Cittadini del Mondo". Back in Italy, he continued his documentary production experience with the Mir Cinematografica in Milan and the Fake Factory in Rome, working on social and historical documentary films.

In the following years, he interested in social networks as a new phenomenon of aggregation and the formation of digital sharing communities. In 2010 he began to use social networks communication skills in a professional perspective, maturing the most important experiences as Social Media & Community Manager, first in the editorial field at Il Fatto Quotidiano and Il Giornale as a freelance, before moving to Alitalia. After years away from Matera, he decided to return to join the staff of the Open Design School as a Communication & Social Media Expert.

Massimiliano E. Burgi was born in Matera, Italy on 31st July 1972. After graduating from artistic college, he earned his degree in architecture from the University of Florence, where he also attended the La Pira International Centre, a training ground for life with the belief that a united world is possible. Returning to Matera, he worked as an architect with IPOGEA, an Education Centre on Knowledge and Traditional Techniques, flanking architect Pietro Laureano in the drafting and creation of Italian projects, from which he discovered a scientific reading of the ancient cave dwellings of Sassi di Matera, that was interwoven with a love for the Ancient Neighbourhoods imparted by his father on long Sunday strolls.

Born in Matera in 1990, Marìca is an illustrator and art educator who is convinced that art is the solution to any problem. In 2014 she completed a three-year degree in Restoration of Cultural Heritage at the University of Basilicata and in the final year she worked in the restoration lab at the B. Greco Archeological Museum in Mondragone (province of Caserta). In 2015 she joined UNESCO’s Young Italians Association where she is the contact person for the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research in Basilicata.

She studied illustration at the Red House Lab Comic Illustration School in Potenza and obtained a diploma in 2016 under the guidance of Giulio Giordano (Bonelli Comics). In the same year with the Red House team she designed a comic strip for the graphic novel: “A narrator on a winter’s night. Comic strips on Italo Calvino’s work” published by BeccoGiallo Editore. She has also illustrated works for Altrimedia Edizioni and UNESCO Youth.

She collaborates with Basilicata’s Museum Services in display design and activities promoting art and childhood in museum workshops.

She is a tutor for the Italian Sports Union in Matera and the Italian Ministry of the Environment on the school project ArcheoGiocando.

In 2017 she collaborated with MateraHub Cultural and Creative Industries on the European programme Erasmus+ in Cordoba for the project Break In The Desk, which develops transferable skills for artists and creatives in tourism offices.

With two other creatives she set up the Team Art collective, which operates in both editorial illustration for children and wall art. Her research on urban art started from her collaboration with children in planning a work to be realised: student groups, summer schools and local community groups propose art works and collaborate in the field with the artists to create the work.

In 2018, with a thesis on ‘silent books’ describing the relationship between children and museums in an annexe full of illustrations, she was awarded a Masters in Linguistics and Communication for Museums at the University of Basilicata.

In the same year she was chosen to take part in the Build Up programme of Matera European Capital of Culture 2019, where she is currently working on school-related activities and relations between residents and the city.

After training as an architect, he completed his studies in Rome, then following a year of Erasmus experience in Seville, he decided to return to his homeland, Cilento, to begin a long journey of research and experimentation in the field of the new urban and rural practices which he had learned in Europe and southern Italy.

In 2010 he founded Recollocal, an urban and territorial bottom-up regeneration platform, operating in the south of Italy in Campania, Puglia, Calabria and Basilicata. He is also involved in social innovation and local community activation processes, focusing his research/action on the hybridization of practices related to ethnography and design.

A connector of spaces and inhabitants for the creation of new urban places and shared assets, he is a cultural, social and civic designer. Since 2014, he has been responsible for the recovery of unused public spaces and for the regeneration of an entire peripheral area in Sapri, which includes BAM! Bottega Artistico Musicale, which has been converted into an independent cultural production centre.

An informal educator, he has been a tutor for the CivicWise international network (Civic Innovation Network for Territory Making) and collaborated on numerous projects, area-based and related to territorial strategies, across urban and rural environments.

In recent years, his work and training has focused on the territorial environment of internal areas; he has taken part in cultural innovation projects, such as Jazzi, and set up the educational and research residency Transluoghi, which for four years has been involved in investigating the issues of depopulation and new glocal citizenship in marginal areas, concerning the relationship between permanent and temporary communities.

In 2018 he founded the social enterprise Mediterranea Social Canapa, a multifunctional agriculture and territorial development project for the redistribution of economic resources in the internal areas of Cilento, in order to support social and cultural bottom-up processes.

Carla Di Grazia has been responsible for the management and coordination of volunteers for Matera Basilicata 2019 Foundation since September 2018.
She was born in Potenza in 1985. She completed her scientific high school diploma at the G.Peano Institute in Marsico Nuovo (PZ) and gained a Masters Degree in the History of Art from La Sapienza University in Rome, specialising in History and Valorisation of Territory and Museums. She has always been fascinated by the educational role art can play in the lives of people. She completed an internship at Galleria Borghese and Galleria Corsini in Roma where she was involved in educational projects targeting different audiences. Deeply interested in the connection between people and art in all its forms, she decided to hone her skills with a Masters in Museums, Galleries and Contemporary Cultures at the University of Westminster in London. At the same time she started working as volunteer, and later as a professional, in many prestigious museums and cultural institutions in London, including the Historical Royal Palaces, the National Portrait Gallery, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the British Museum, the Museum of London, the Southbank Centre and finally at the St George’s University Hospital, where she worked as curatorial assistant in the hospital's art department. Coming into contact with diverse groups of people, such as children, teens, adults and people with different economic and cultural background, she acquired significant organizational and interpersonal skills. At the National Portrait Gallery of London, she completed a six-month internship involving the management of educational activities for schools and families.
In 2013 she worked in customer services at Kensington Palace, and later became deputy leader of the Welcome Team. This role allowed her to acquire team leadership skills and to become a reference point for her team, the volunteers and the visitors. She believes that teamwork is crucial. Thanks to her professionalism and attention to detail, as well as to her passion for working with people, she has received a number of awards.
In January 2018, she was selected as Linker for the Build Up process of the Matera Basilicata 2019 Foundation.
She firmly believes that art in all its forms has a positive impact on society and thus it should be accessible to everybody. She loves challenges, and she decided to return to Italy because she strongly supports Basilicata and Matera as the European Capital of Culture 2019.

Italo was born in Matera in 1964, a city that he has always identified with, and from a young age he wanted to be successful in any way. And basketball was the way!

While indulging his passion for basketball, he studied and obtained his diploma in 1982. From 1977 to 2002 he was a member of the Italian Basketball Federation. In 1997-1998 he helped to achieve the historic promotion to the B1 basketball league of the Olimpia Basket/Amaro Lucano Matera team – a goal never achieved until then by a Lucanian team. In later years he trained the young players of Pielle Basket Matera.

Since 1994 he has been involved with Cooperation and Social Services and works for a Social Cooperative, where his role covers administration, human resources management and relations with public and private administrations.

Through the Matera 2019 Committee first of all, then the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation, from 2011 to 2017 he worked as a volunteer producing 'Materadio - la festa di Radio 3' (Materadio, Radio 3 party) as volunteer coordinator, providing logistical support for event organisation, artistic organisation and guest hospitality. Other Foundation projects and events followed: the Turin Book Fair, World Book Day, Meno Uno in January 2018, Art Lab in collaboration with the Fitzcarraldo Foundation of Turin and many more.

He is a great team builder team and with his enthusiasm and positive outlook resolves differences of opinion and doubts while motivating and encouraging group members. In all his collaborations he shows his team spirit and experience in the field when he coordinates and manages Matera 2019 in his current role as Incoming and Volunteers Manager.

Ready for this new challenge, Italo is inspired on a daily basis by a phrase from one of his favourite writers, Jean-Claude Izzo: 'If you have a heart' my father told me one day, 'you’ll never lose. Wherever you go. You can only find'.

He lives in the Sassi in a lovely house where everyone is always welcome, where his two beautiful twin daughters were born and who are now studying at university; they have followed in his footsteps and are proud to be Matera 2019 volunteers.

An avid reader and passionate about music, he never misses the opportunity to take part in an event of this kind. He believes in the power of culture and that Matera, in years to come, can become a place full of opportunities and for all those who people who want to get involved and use their enthusiasm to foster growth and development.

Born in 1987 in Latina (LT), Tommaso Cayro Santoro holds a degree with honours from the Sapienza University of Rome with a dissertation on architectural planning on the Campidoglio 2 in Rome. While he was still a student, he undertook work experience at the London studio ORproject where he studied the methodologies used in parametric architecture. At the same time, he founded the cultural association Archistart in which he still plays a role as a designer and a coordinator of planning and self-construction workshops focusing on urban regeneration.

After graduating, he took part in the first workshop organized by the OPEN DESIGN SCHOOL with the Matera Basilicata 2019 Foundation. After that, together with other young designers, he set up Archistart Studio where he plays a major role in office interior design, managing projects like IBM, Carta Si and Copernico on behalf of Il Prisma of Milan.

In 2018, his project 'reDesign' won the PIN (Pugliesi Innovativi – Young Innovative People in Puglia) competition run by the Region of Puglia.

At present, he is project manager of the Lumen Social Light project for Matera Basilicata 2019 Foundation.

Emmanuele Curti, archeologist and cultural manager, after having studied in Perugia, in 1992 moved to London, working in UCL and Birkbeck College, from 1992 to 2003, and then the University of Basilicata, until 2015. His research has been on issues of process of acculturation in Greek/Roman times and he has also worked in projects in Pompei and Jordan. His focus has recently shifted towards politics/economies of cultural heritage, and the transformation of humanistic disciplines. He is involved with projects on cultural heritage, digital culture, cultural tourism, etc.. He writes for the online magazine cheFare.

Being a versatile person, I was in charge of the technical and the commercial management of several companies, among them Telecom Italia, Impresa Semplice, Alcatel TLC, CISCO Networks, Samsung Networks. Over the past few years I have mainly dealt with the development of apps for iOS, Android and API Telegram.

Since 2013 I have been involved in the management and the promotion of the candidacy of Matera as European Capital of Culture 2019 via the Community website and the social networks. I was in charge of the Open Data project of Matera Municipality and I am developing the participatory process for the upgrading and dissemination of OpenStreetMap in the city of the “Sassi”.

In 2013 Matera Municipality was awarded the first open GeoData prize in Italy. In 2014, I was a member of the Task Force dealing with the Digital Agenda of Basilicata Region and I took part in the organization of the “Go on Basilicata”.

I am currently managing the OpenData and the OpenGov for Lecce Municipality, which won the E-Gov prize as the best municipality in Italy in 2015 for the participatory and collaborative open Data. I am an active member in the CoderDojo clubs of Puglia and Basilicata and I teach Coding within several NOPs addressed to primary and low-secondary school teachers. I have already created dozens of “BOTs” on Telegram.

I am honoured to be a member of the management board of Wikitalia.

Half Italian and half American, Chiara Siravo is a design historian, researcher and curator. She holds a degree in History from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and an MA in the History of Design from the Royal College of Art and Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Her research around the Design of Hell led to the publication of an essay in the book Pictures of Hell by American photographer, Mark Ruwedel. Chiara was Editor of The Towner and a member of the design and architecture research studio, Space Caviar and in 2016 she was a fellow at the Center for Contemporary Art (CCA) in Kitakyushu, Japan. More recently, she worked as producer for IdeasCity, a project of the New Museum in New York. As part of the team of the Matera Basilicata 2019 Foundation, Chiara is the Associate Curator of I-DEA, a project dedicated to the exploration of Basilicata’s rich archives and collections which, in 2019, will culminate in a series of exhibitions, editorial projects and workshops.

Elisa Giuliano is an architect, contemporary dancer, researcher and exhibition designer based between Matera and Berlin. She is currently a fellow of Het Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam, and collaborates with the architectural studio Kuehn Malvezzi on publications and exhibitions. Among previous experiences she was part of the interdisciplinary practice Studio Lukas Feireiss where she was dealing with the production of international symposiums, exhibitions and publications. In 2017 she performed in a staging of Anna Halprin's "Blank Placard Dance" at the 29th festival Tanz im August in Berlin and in 2016 worked as a dancer in the production "Danze sulla Debolezza" by Virgilio Sieni presented at the 10th Venice Dance Biennale. In 1996 Elisa attended her first ballet class and continued training as a dancer for more than fifteen years experimenting with different movement techniques and choreographers. In 2016 she obtained a Master Degree in Architecture and Urban Planning at the Polytechnic School of Genova.

Antonio Elettrico is an architect, active in the fields of design and architecture. He obtained a degree cum laude in architecture at the University of Naples Federico II, Italy. In 2004 he participated in the international urban design workshop: “Anàlisis e intervenciòn en el Boulevard Parque de Genil” held in Granada, Spain.
He subsequently worked as freelancer in architecture studios, specializing in architectural design of residential and commercial areas, dealing with national and international customers (Russia, Montenegro).
In 2009 starts his own activity as self-employed architect and designer, specializing in interior design and product design. His work emphasizes the role of research, innovation and prototyping in the field of design.
In 2010 is officially involved in a Workshop organized by the PoliMi "M / I / M / Design District" in which he designed a contemporary chairs realized and exhibited in the "Il Super-Comfort / Disaggivoli Ozii" exhibition in collaboration with the Milan Triennale.
His approach to architectural design seen as a place where different discipline meet together, a place to experiment, to be creative and innovative, leads him to partecipate in a different cultural and innovative projects with various subjects at national and international level (RENA, UnMonastery, Open Design School, I-DEA).

Anna Calise was born in Naples in 1991. Her hometown inspires her to build a stronger and more open Southern Italy. She believes that culture, its development and accessibility are the keys to allow the growth of territories and citizens alike.

Anna graduated in Philosophy from King’s College in London. By studying philosophy she learnt the art of doubt as well as the value of synthesis and abstraction. She moved back to Italy and studied Arts Management at SDA Bocconi where she learnt to manage economic tools within cultural projects. Later, she moved back to Naples and collaborated with public and private institutions, such as the “Sopraintendenza di Pompei”, the National Archeological Museum, Fondazione FoQus – a non-profit organisation (Onlus) dealing with urban regeneration in the Quartieri Spagnoli of Naples. At the same time she gained her Master’s Degree in Management of Cultural Heritage from the University of Naples “Federico II”. In 2018 she collaborated with Google Arts and Culture and worked on building the digital profile promoting the art of Naples at an International level. She becomes part of the Build Up programme run by the Matera Basilicata 2019 Foundation, which allows her to discover the cultural programme and the region that is hosting it.

At present, she lives in Matera and deals with community projects involving local citizens. She is keen on developing the cultural project of our European Capital of Culture through a bottom-up approach.

A freelance reporter aged 36, Francesco has a degree in Political Sciences and International Relations from the University of Bologna. After experience in international cooperation in Nepal, he attended the Lelio Basso Foundation School of Journalism in Rome. Following this professional development, he moved to France to gain journalism experience on the ground. There he collaborated with the Fugazy photo-reporter collective on the monthly publication Le Peuple Breton and the weekly L’Echo de la Presqu’Île. Between 2013 and 2015 he returned to Italy for a short time, working in the editorial office of Bologna’s Radio Città Fujiko. In 2015 he moved back to France permanently, but continued to work with Il Manifesto and globalist.it. His main areas of interest are the themes of identity and migration, the latter also seen as individual journeys.

He is the author of 'Where was I? The Day the Wall fell', a graphic novel illustrated by Lucrezia Bugané and published by Lavieri.

He loves contemporary history and civil theatre.

He is responsible for the coordination of young people’s blogs and storytelling in community projects for the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation.

His greatest passion is information technology which, with art and photography, is behind the company he set up with his brother in September 2014 – the Namias Photography and IT Studio.

The 'Virtual tour' project for churches in the Diocese of Tricarico is one of his great works, though the productions that best showcase his skills are the digitalisation in gigapixels of the frescoes by Pietro Antonio Ferro in the churches of Carmine and Santa Chiara, as well as various audiovisual productions on art, traditions and entrepreneurial success stories, which offer a light-hearted approach and fresh view of the community aspect of the local area.

In 2012 he worked as a cinematographer, restoring a cinema and a 35 mm projector in the Tricarico auditorium.

He lives in and around Tricarico and is present virtually in Europe and the world. His choice to continue working in Basilicata is evident in his active participation in regional volunteering with Avis, Pro Loco, CSV, FAI and Liberascienza.

In 2015, he started to work with the Matera 2019 Web Team, and in 2018 he designed and coordinated a stage in the run-up to 2019 with the Tricarico event 'Lettura in scena' held on the 95th anniversary of the birth of the Lucanian writer and poet Rocco Scotellaro.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1991, she moved to a city near Barcelona called Terrassa. After gaining a degree in history from the Universitat Autonòma in Barcelona, she spent a semester at the Torcuato di Tella University in Argentina, where she specialised in political sciences.

She continued her studies with a Masters in international relations between the EU and Latin America at the University of Alcalá de Henares in Madrid in the Latin American Department where she was also responsible for the communication and coordination of academic events. She also attended a course in coordination and development of cultural activities in Barcelona, and in the same year began to work as a volunteer coordinator for several music festivals in Barcelona.

In her home town of Terrassa, she taught English to young migrants as a volunteer. She took part in a number of cultural events as a member of a cultural association that organises firework and percussion shows in different areas of the city. Before coming to Matera she presented a cultural community project for her town, which was promoted and is currently being developed.

She arrived in Matera in January to work for a year at the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation under the European Volunteer Service scheme. She was particularly attracted by and interested in the wide-ranging cultural programme which highlights the participation and involvement of people in various events. Involving the residents, not just as spectators but above all as local people taking active responsibility for the development of their community, is one of the pillars of this programme proposed by the Foundation.

Nora was born in 1993 in Etropole - a small Bulgarian town surrounded by mountains. At the age of 14, curiosity and desire for self improvement brought her to Sofia in order to study technological and business management. Living away from her family she gained personal qualities such as independence and responsibility. At 18 she decided to take a gap year in which she worked at a beach bar in Greece. In addition to mixing cocktails, she learnt to speak Greek and fell in love with the country’s culture.

After returning to Bulgaria she started a bachelor degree in Cultural Studies at the University of Blagoevgrad, which is not accidentally located near the border with Greece. During her studies she participated in numerous seminars and expeditions in Bulgaria and Greece focusing on the cultural heritage of both countries. At university she also studied Art History, and became captivated by 14-17 century Italian art. Therefore, she decided to go to Italy as an Erasmus student where she studied Italian language and culture at the University for Foreigners of Perugia.

In 2016 she volunteered as an assistant-curator at the Festival of Museums and Galleries in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Before her graduation she completed an internship at Association “EUNI Partners” where she worked on Erasmus projects. She has also participated in several Erasmus projects in Turkey, Greece, Slovakia, Hungary, Spain and Cyprus. Her adventurous spirit and desire to expand her horizons took her to a cruise ship where she worked in 2018 exploring the Caribbean islands.

Her love for Italian culture and her desire to acquire new skills in the field of cultural management brought her to Matera as a part of the European volunteering project Human Capital 2019. She finds the extraordinary history of Matera fascinating and is strongly convinced that the town and the region will keep improving after 2019.
