As part of the FAI Autumn Days, Casa Cava hosts EN PLEIN AIR, a concert curated by ARTErìa. EN PLEIN AIR is a Land Music project born from the encounter between music, landscape and imagination. At the heart of the project is nature, understood not simply as an environment to be represented, but as a living substance capable of generating sounds, images, memories and emotions.
The musical composition begins with melodies originally conceived for piano and various acoustic ensembles, which are then explored and transformed through acoustic and electronic percussion, wind instruments, pads and live electronics. The sound material is blended, amplified, layered and at times deliberately “distorted”, giving rise to an open musical language in which jazz, ethnic and contemporary music, electronic music, progressive sounds and improvisation coexist.
The landscape thus becomes the common thread of a journey that symbolically travels through the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the East, South America and the African American world, without seeking a folkloric representation of these places. What emerges instead is the perspective of those who inhabit them, travel through them or observe them with a sense of wonder: a landscape that becomes geographical, anthropological and psychological at the same time.
The sonic dimension intertwines with the visual one in a performance in which music and images influence one another. Satellite footage of real landscapes is reworked live through video art, transforming into constantly evolving images. Mountains, rivers, seas, hills, plains and badlands thus become part of the performance’s dramaturgy, entering into dialogue with the music.
