Stigliano is a village condemned to disappear, the victim of continuous wild deforestation. Roots that had anchored the soil to the hill and provided stability to the land have withered, and the rain has washed the soil away, causing disastrous landslides every year.
Not only plants have lost their roots, but humans have too. A land known for passing esoteric knowledge between generations of local women is losing this tradition. Seeds can not be planted in an absent soill.
Through an engraved glass panel, I represented female family members who no longer live in the village.
On top of them are some objects traditionally used in witchcraft; these objects were placed on the outside of their houses, in order to protect them from "Mal d' occhio"(Evil Eye).
