Born in Matera Giovanni Oliva graduated in Law from the University of Bologna in 1995 with a thesis on the simplification of the administrative activity.

He has a long experience in managing public and private enterprises as well as in planning, managing and monitoring human, financial and technological resources.A dynamic, curious and enthusiast manager, his valuable experience allows him to be part of an innovative team that foresees, coordinates and develops the expected results of complex projects. During his career, he spent many years abroad in China, India and Europe. He managed important international companies and acquired deep knowledge of international trade and industrial supply chain as well as longstanding experience in setting up transnational partnerships among economic operators and multilateral agreements between public and private sectors.Thanks to his work experience he could hone his skills in managing complex projects, planning project phases, managing human resources as well as in budget monitoring  and in the organization of the monitoring and auditing team, thus developing  methods and approaches aimed at the achievement of objectives.From March 2014 to January 2018 he was the General Manager of the Agriculture Department of the Region of Basilicata on behalf of which he managed more than 680 Million Euros of public funds under the ERDAF as well as a unit of 310 people working in Potenza and in other 7 offices located in Metaponto, Policoro, Senise, Villa D’Agri, Lagonegro, Melfi and Matera. He dealt with governance and collective management.Within the framework of the Universal Exposition EXPO Milano 2015 he was part of the coordination body of the Region of Basilicata. He organized and managed thematic workshops, and the incoming of foreign delegations in Basilicata. Moreover,  he approved  the bilateral agreement with UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) and promoted the first meeting with entrepreneurs from the Middle East, the MENA region and  Africa in December 2015.His fresh approach has always helped him face new challenges and inspiring projects by combining tradition and modernity. He strongly believes that all the elements of historic-cultural identity of his homeland can generate new development opportunities if they match a modern vision supported by new forms of communication typical of contemporary sensitiveness.
