Matera 2019

Half Italian and half American, Chiara Siravo is a design historian, researcher and curator. She holds a degree in History from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and an MA in the History of Design from the Royal College of Art and Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Her research around the Design of Hell led to the publication of an essay in the book Pictures of Hell by American photographer, Mark Ruwedel. Chiara was Editor of The Towner and a member of the design and architecture research studio, Space Caviar and in 2016 she was a fellow at the Center for Contemporary Art (CCA) in Kitakyushu, Japan. More recently, she worked as producer for IdeasCity, a project of the New Museum in New York. As part of the team of the Matera Basilicata 2019 Foundation, Chiara is the Associate Curator of I-DEA, a project dedicated to the exploration of Basilicata’s rich archives and collections which, in 2019, will culminate in a series of exhibitions, editorial projects and workshops.
