MUSIC LESSONS + CONCERT Arion and the Dolphin: Music That Travels, Music That Saves With Michele dall’Ongaro and Emanuele Arciuli, piano

During a stay in Sicily, Arion, the famous Greek poet and lyre player of the 6th century BC, amassed great wealth through his art. On the ship taking him back to Corinth, the sailors plotted to steal his gold and silver. Before jumping into the sea, as they had ordered him to do, Arion asked to put on his ceremonial robes and play his lyre, singing a melodious song. Drawn by the music, a dolphin carried him on its back and brought him safely to Greece.

The myth tells of the life-saving power of music in a desperate situation of flight and exile. Similarly, music has been a means of rebirth and redemption for generations of musicians who have found a new purpose in life in a new homeland. The event with Michele dall’Ongaro and Emanuele Arciuli explores some of these stories.

CONCERT + FINALE Music by Rulli Frulli

Chaos and order, bubbling, shaking, looking within, shouting out loud, feeling the energy that drives you to change everything and then start again. Lava that burns but also brings rebirth: a volcano is not a mountain that destroys, but a voice that sings! Vulcano is the new performance by Banda Rulli Frulli, and it is about us, about you and me, about anger, happiness and fears, and ultimately about understanding that yes, it’s okay just the way it is.

Rulli Frulli brings together people of different ages, genders and abilities, creating a space where everyone belongs, from budding musicians to more experienced performers. Today, the band has around 70 members, teenagers and young adults aged 12 to 35, who share the joy of making music together.
