On Friday, October 16, at 10:30 AM, in Sala Diotallevi, the talk “Basilicata, Land of Wonder: From Motherland’s Body-Landscape to Basilicata, Land of Kings” will bring Basilicata’s programme at TTG Rimini to a close. Organised through a collaboration between APT Basilicata and the Fondazione Matera-Basilicata 2029, the event will be moderated by Sabrina Talarico, President of the Italian Travel Press Association (GIST). Joining Director Sarli will be Rita Orlando, Director of the Fondazione Matera Basilicata 2019 and coordinator of the “Fantastico Medioevo” project.
The discussion will be divided into two parts.
The first will focus on “Basilicata Motherland. Living Heritage”, APT Basilicata’s campaign, recognised by La Gazzetta del Pubblicitario as Italy’s best regional tourism campaign of summer 2026. The talk will also feature the presentation of “Basilicata Motherland”, a premium publication showcasing the campaign in a volume that combines the qualities of an atlas with those of a statement of intent.
The second part, entitled “Basilicata, Land of Kings”, will shift the focus from landscape to history through “Fantastico Medioevo”, a project dedicated to the region’s Norman and Hohenstaufen heritage. From Robert Guiscard to Frederick II, the initiative looks ahead to the European Year of the Normans in 2027 and the 800th anniversary of the Constitutions of Melfi in 2031. The journey takes in castles, cathedrals and historic villages, extending to Aglianico del Vulture DOC wine, produced in municipalities recognised among Italy’s Wine Cities for 2026.
