Matera 2026 – logo wins “Silver Award” at the European Design Awards
The logo of Matera 2026 Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue, designed by studio FM milano, has won the Silver Award in the Logo Design category at the European Design Awards 2026.
The recognition comes just a few months after the launch of the visual identity project, which was selected through an international public competition organised in collaboration with AIAP (the Italian Association for Visual Communication Design). Studio FM milano was chosen among eighty proposals submitted by Italian and international designers.
Since 2007, the European Design Awards (ED-Awards) have been the leading European recognition in the field of communication design. The awards are judged by a panel of representatives from fifteen leading design publications across Europe.
Founded in 1996, studio FM milano is a Milan-based graphic design and art direction studio with a long history of international recognition in the field.
According to Director General Rita Orlando: “The Silver Award at the European Design Awards confirms the value of our original vision: entrusting the creation of the visual identity of Matera 2026 Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue to an international competition developed in collaboration with AIAP. This decision stemmed from the belief that only an open dialogue with the world could translate the complexity and ambition of such a project into a visual language. Today, the logo designed by studio FM milano is recognised as one of the outstanding examples of communication design in Europe, confirming that design quality is part of the credibility with which Matera presents itself to the Euro-Mediterranean region.”
