Matera 2019

Materadio
is back with its sixth edition!

From 23 to 25 September 2016 Casa Cava, Piazza San Pietro Barisano and Piazza San Giovanni are hosting the Radio3 Celebration in Matera.
This year, the programme includes a wealth of very interesting events for Radio3 listeners and for a town that, year after year, continues to build the project that will make it the European Capital of Culture in 2019.
This year's theme is Utopia, on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the book by Thomas Moore, and because “Utopias and dystopias” is one of the five topics in the Matera 2019 candidacy dossier.
Therefore, like every year, it will be an opportunity for gathering ideas, actions and prospects for possible futures. This event is never the same and is constantly evolving. Every year, in fact, the collaboration between Radio3 and the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation becomes closer than ever before. Along with the programme broadcasted over the three days, for this edition there is also a rich off-programme in which the local and international cultural associations and schools will be involved. This programme highlights the role of community in culture. An example is undoubtedly the Concert for the Public and the Nicola Campogrande Orchestra, where music and lyrics are creative elements to be co-created together by the public and the orchestra. The public is therefore co-protagonist in the performance. Something not to be missed!
We look forward to seeing you, like every year, for a big party for all, full of words, sounds artistic expressions and a great show!
